Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Personally I like the Luminious rate better but I had the $200 FHR credit to burn.

Maybe that used to be a good option back when PTS was staffed by actual Amex travel agents. These days, I would be hard pressed to call an Expedia call center person with no personal travel experience or specialized knowledge of the industry a "luxury travel advisor."

And there is the ultimate problem. When FHR becomes just an online booking engine and something you use to redeem your $200 yearly credit. This makes one ponder the value of FHR versus using an independent luxury travel advisor. There is very little upside to booking with FHR compared to Luminous, as noted above. Actually, there might be a downside with service and support. There is also a downside if you do not want to use/pay for the spa, then your credit is worthless. I can speak to personal experiences, and not sure what you would do on a Saturday if you had a complaint about your room at Cosmo and tried to call FHR for support. The only reason (to use FHR) and the only feature (different than other consortia) that FHR provides is a contractual 4 pm check-out. Other than that, I can't understand why people bother with FHR.

My guess (in order of frequency):
  • Using the annual FHR credit
  • Lack of awareness regarding consortia/captive platform alternatives
  • Preference for online booking
  • "Need" 4pm checkout
  • Habit/"pride of membership"/residual loyalty
FWIW, FHR can be booked through any travel agent (but this doesn't help when it comes to using the annual credit).

The sale price from Cosmo on Marriott and Cosmo website was not available on AMEX FHR.

Quick update - points posted automatically to my Marriott account for the FHR stay. All credits were applied to the bill.

In most instances there are going to be "sale" rates offered that don't qualify for Luminous and/or FHR benefits.

My list included only speculation as to reasons one would use FHR to book.

Was messaging with Cosmo trying to get my stay on my Marriott account and they said "We're an Autograph hotel, not a Marriott hotel. You cannot get it on the app". Lol...

Did you enter Bonvoy number on AMEX site during booking or it involved providing number at check-in?

Cosmo still keeps saying they've added my Bonvoy number to my reservation but it still doesn't show up on my app.

Stayed here last week for a few nights, in a Wraparound Terrace Suite.

Some notes:
  • I really liked the room and property itself, actually.
  • My status was at least useful to use the Autograph check-in room... and for absolutely nothing else.
  • I did not like the nickel and diming - $11.50 to get a kettle (to boil water for tea...) brought up to the room is satirical. It's a petty amount of money, but come on. I guess they expect you to order room service every day instead of making tea/coffee yourself?
  • I had specifically requested a room not facing Marquee, and on a high floor... and was given a room facing it directly, on a lower floor, and told I was in the "quiet tower". The day club noise is like being punched in the face with bass, even with all the sliding doors shut.
  • I was asked if I wanted late checkout, and said yes. On the last morning after a late breakfast, returned to find ourselves locked out of our room at 11:15, and had to get the cleaners to let us in.
  • As per years of posts in this thread, despite booking through marriott.com and havng my Bonvoy number attached, it has not posted, going on day 7/8. Do I really need to wait till day 10 after checkout and play the "Request Missing Stay" game? They did manage to at least e-mail me my PDF folio properly, so I can provide that.

Yes, but IME you might get lucky and have some otherwise-ineligible spend come through.

Also IME they are good about switching rooms if you have a problem once you get to the room, and they can rekey your keys over the phone so that you don't have to go back downstairs to get keys to your new room.

As for the $11.50 charge, I agree that's dumb for a water kettle, but I believe it is a generic delivery fee that covers up to 6 "things" like champagne flutes, wine bucket, etc.

Not that it's an "excuse," and I agree it is dumb, but the property has been super generous with using the Luminous Credit (still) for in-room dining (room service). I assume this is the same with FHR. To me, that's a very solid perk, though I assume it will disappear/modify eventually.

Warning, this is subject to change; my last update:
Summer 2022, Breakfast - Luminous
And yes, the breakfast credit is still the $75/day at Wicked Spoon, The Henry, District Donuts, Overlook Grill, Starbucks, Eggslut, and room service.

Crediting this Cosmo stays through Marriott is still a pain in the .... I submitted a missing stay report and Marriott CC'ed me on this long chain between them and Cosmo trying to figure this out.
