Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Booking through a Marriott Luminous travel includes a choice of spa or F&B credit. FHR is only more efficient it if you absolutely need the late check-out guaranteeed (or are prepaying and prioritize the 5x MR points).

If you are concerned about the hotel leaving Bonvoy, the same benefits including F&B credit are offered through Travel Leaders SELECT and perhaps other TA booking platforms as well. The hotel's participation in SELECT has already been confirmed for 2022.

Thank you for your reply, although your answer did not really respond to my questions. I’m using FHR because of the 200$ credit I need to use, and would like to get an elite night credit with Bonvoy if possible

I missed this in your question. Since this particular credit requires prepayment through Amex PTS, I'm not sure the booking will be Bonvoy-eligible at all, regardless of timing.

There are a lot of people that promote their travel advisory businesses on FT. It is mostly harmless as long as you rely on impartial sources for unbiased information. A few travel advisors are really great and provide amazing value. Many travel advisors just end up costing you more money. Choose carefully.

IME you will get EQNs if the Cosmo is still part of Bonvoy on a FHR booking. Personally, I think January is a reasonable bet for the hotel still being part of Bonvoy but no one can tell you for sure. You need to make the judgment for yourself. No experience getting credit types swapped on FHR.

There are many data points to show that FHR prepaid bookings are Bonvoy eligible. In fact, I have never seen a data point where someone was unable to get a FHR stay to post either automatically or by request.

Thanks, now I suppose I can say I am sure and will also look to use the annual Plat credit at a Bonvoy property as well.

I just completed a 2 night stay at the Cosmo this past weekend. I booked with the FHR pre-paid booking. I had a $200 credit and part of my stay was offset by that credit. I am a Platinum Bonvoy member. True to the promised guarantee, I was allowed an early check-in. My flight arrived at 10:30 AM and they allowed us to check in early. First they gave me a suite in the Boulevard Tower which is far from the main desk. And it takes a while to get there and there was someone in the room! We had to go all the way back down which was a bit of a pain.

I talked to the same girl and she was really embarrassed. She apologized and gave me a further upgrade to a Fountain view suite in the Chelsea Tower which I prefer over the other Tower. I'm really glad she made the mistake as the room was fabulous! Everything was comfortable and the room had 2 fridges in it with a little mini freezer that worked well.

As part of the FHR booking we got breakfast daily of up to $75 to be used in the various restaurants. Strange as the lady told us it could only be used for breakfast starting the next morning. That didn't seem to make sense as places like Egg Slut are open until 2 PM. We slept in and just like I thought, they applied the $75 credit to the places we went even though it was after 12 PM. I didn't have any issues getting the $75 back. We ate at Egg Slut and then had some coffee at the cafe off the lobby area. Just keep in mind if you leave a tip, it will NOT go towards your credit even if you don't use all of your $75.

We also got a $100 "Experience Spa credit". I asked if we could use it for food instead and cited COVID concerns (even though I did NOT have any concerns). They said no. I thought it would be a waste as massages were super expensive. My wife told me I should get a haircut and that was a great idea. A haircut with tip was about $65 with the mandatory tip and the 15% Platinum Bonvoy discount. I told them that I wasn't going to use anything else. He asked if I wanted a day pass to the Spa for $50 and I told him I was getting ready to check out. I did ask him if I could give the rest of it as an extra gratuity to the stylist. (I had no idea if she was good or not and had to prepay but didn't want to waste it). The manager assured me that I could do this.

I got probably the best haircut of my life. The girls name was Teena and was great. I told her I hope she is good as I was tipping her $35 extra. She thanked me.
At the check-out I saw the tip on the bill and they told me I couldn't use it. I told the guy what the manager told me. He got on the phone with a manager and got it approved. I'm not sure why they care as I'd assume AMEX is paying it but fortunately got it taken off the bill. If you are struggling to use the spa credit, think about a haircut.

One thing that seems stupid is they won't let you know the credit for 2 people. i.e. if you want to get 2 day passes to the spa it's $100 but they said you can only use it on one person! Even if they are from the same room. Everything else was great and love this hotel. They also gave me the 4 PM late check-out guaranteed by FHR.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows a way to park a 35ft RV near the Cosmopolitan for 1 night? Even paid, but I found nothing. The easiest way is to park it at Walmart and go to the Hotel by Uber?

I saw upthread someone posted about an airport view looking south.
If you really enjoy airplanes, is there anything special one can request to try and get an airport view?
Thanks.

The very vest view of the airport might possibly be on the east-facing side of the Boulevard Tower.

However I am reasonably sure that any room on the south side of either tower would have a view of the airport. Best there would be on the eastern side, i.e. in Boulevard Tower or east side of the Chelsea Tower. But I recently stayed on the far western side of the 21st floor in Chelsea, and still had a pretty good view of the airport.

I'd call them. In my experience the phone agents are quite knowledgable about views etc. from the various room types.

Now the stay I just booked today is a different story. I got a "no resort fee" offer in Identity, as well as $99 rates, and there was nothing even close on the Marriott site. About $350 out the door for 3 nights. In this case, when I tried to link the reservation to my Marriott account, turns out it is not possible. It's considered a casino deal and I get no points or elite night credits and can't track it through Marriott. Just thought I would share because the rep at first thought I had a comp room but apparently if the deal is too good to be on a hotel booking website, then it's pretty much treated like the kind of 3rd party discounted booking that Marriott does not honor for points and stay credits. It remains to be see if I get anything at all in terms of Platinum perks, like $10 food credit or upgraded room.
Thanks for sharing this, I was about to be one of these "no resort fees" offer rates. It's a shame the Cosmo website doesn't show the rate details, and Marriott not honoring the points/stay credit. It's technically booked direct through the hotel, and it should count for stay credit! If it's a non-commissionable rate, the website should explicitly state so. Anyway, this is still a good rate for 3 nights! Hope they gave you an upgrade with the limited Platinum benefits provided during your stay.
