Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

you'd think, but I can't seem to actually get a host at either Cosmo or Bellagio. When I asked the floor the one time I was at Cosmo for 90 min, I was told I could wait over by the host office to see if someone was available... LOL. (and the high-end drinks are available to anyone in the high limit room btw -- it's the best high limit room in Vegas, often w/ $100 tables and pretty much whatever you want to drink. my non-playing friend who sat with me got 2 rounds of Macallan 18 for free while he watched me play.)

no problem getting a host @ Mandalay Bay where my play is higher relative to the crowd than it is at Cosmo or Bellagio, but it's too far out of the way for me to prefer to stay down there.

Not that $200/hand is something to sneer at, but it's really not much. Especially considering it was at BJ, which has one of the lowest if not the lowest house edge at casinos. For 90 mins of play at $200/hand, that's only an ADT of 360, or for your total of 4 hours which is around an ADT of 960 (both conservatively using 2% HA and 60 hands per hr). Play like that usually barely covers a comp room at Cosmo for 2+ nights, let alone eligible for a host. (Hope that didn't sound too condescending)

Looks like you're getting some good marketing offers though, which seems to be teasers if you were a first timer. Once you use the offers a time or two, your play/stats will eventually catch up with you and the offers will sync up with your play accordingly. You can check your Identity account online to verify if you were assigned a host though, since sometimes players get automatically assigned one and won't even know it. When you log on to Identity, you should automatically be redirected to the Offers page. Scroll all the way to the bottom. On the bottom left, it should list a host or maybe a marketing rep if you were assigned one.

I would anticipate that you need 6 hours a day at that level to warrant any real attention. I used to play $100/hand 40 years ago, many dealers at the MGM Grand (before it burned) knew me, and I never got a free brunch.

yeah I mean this is all stuff I either know or don't care to worry about, not condescending

I will say that once I've been assigned a host at places like MGM National Harbor, I think they quickly figure out that I'm not a high value proposition... I might play a few hours max, will win at least half of the time (I'm good at quitting when I'm ahead -- although yes in theory they only care about my theo), and I never play high margin stuff like slots. Early on at the harbor I was invited to some fancy dinner at Voltaggio by my then-new host with all you can drink Pappy 23. Let's just say that didn't happen again... but that doesn't bother me a bit!

End of the day, and to bring it back on topic, Cosmo is a great blackjack experience even for the occasional gambler. And if you're the kind of person who typically plays 25-50 minimum tables but occasionally bets 100+/hand while at them, you might peek into the high limit room to see if they have $100 tables running (sometimes the minimums are 200/300/500 in those kinds of rooms, particularly on weekend evenings, but sometimes you'll see 100). It's a beautiful room and the dealers and booze service have all been great. So much nicer than a lot of the tired worn out joints along the strip.

100% agree. Every now and then I hear passersby talking about Talon Club and I usually let them know anyone can go check it out and they're usually surprised. I think most people are reluctant to go inside, either they don't know it's open to the public or get intimidated. Especially when it's not really near the main casino. Nice place to getaway from the craziness downstairs.

I just learned about this place last year.

We're not gamblers but went to check it out. The hosts were all very welcoming, and no one was there. Definitely recommend players check it out.

I booked a room at the Cosmo under my identity account but my husband is the one who has Ambassador status with Marriott Bonvoy. He is traveling with me. Will we enjoy the perks and benefits with his bonvoy status? room upgrade etc.

I imagine it’s up to the hotel to go above and beyond in matching benefits normally extended with AE status. At the very least your husband’s name and AE # should be attached to the reservation. At check-in, you can inquire on what the hotel may be willing to do for you.

Your Marriott status isn't going to get you much at Cosmo. At best you're looking at getting checkin in the autograph lounge.

What identity level are you? Platinum with cosmo will get you much farther than ambassador at marriott

Not an amazing load of perks, but still a room upgrade and late checkout is a plus

I cosign everything that anteater said. The room isn't in your husband's name, so you both aren't entitled to any of the benefits because of this. I would do everything anteater recommended. It's really at the discretion of the hotel at this point. Good luck!

Autograph lounge checkin is really the only guaranteed perk though. Room upgrades are very hit and miss, and late checkouts are easy to get even without status.

But like you said, with the room being under a different name everything is at the discretion of the house, although I would guess they're being a little more generous than usual due to the pandemic.

The Cosmopolitan has been good to me with upgrades. No complaints there. Of course, we aren't talking about jumping from the City Room to a Terrace Suite. Even still, they have always given me my upgrade (even as it states subject to availability)

Update

Hi guys.. just wanted to give everyone an update. I was able to use my husband’s Marriott status even though we booked under my name. The original booking was for a city room. They did not automatically upgrade us .. but as soon as my husband brought up if there were any available upgrade.. and before he could finish his sentence.. she responded almost instantly that she could help us with that. She upgraded us to a terrace one bedroom fountain view.

My husband has no game play at cosmo. He is diamond at caesars and gold at mlife.. so I thought that was pretty awesome we were able to get the upgrade. I’m pretty sure due to the pandemic.. they are pretty lax when it comes to upgrade. Hope this help and thank you everyone for your advice and help!
