I realize resort fees are proliferating, but when I called Cosmo and asked specifically what the $28 fee includes, access to the pools was the first thing mentioned. I laughed and said that's something that the cheapest Days Inn gives guests for nothing!

I was looking at the cosmo for a friday night stay and they wanted $450 a night for their basic rooms. Its absurd to throw a resort fee on top of that. I haven't been able to find any better deals to do a LNF either. For half the price there are seriously top of the line resorts in vegas with better reviews, so I am not sure if there is some sort of special event that night or what the deal is, but I was taken aback.

It depends on what you want. If you want to stay at the hippest place on the strip you pay the $450. If you are happy staying at the place with all the priceline shoppers then you'll stay across the street at Aria (or similar) for $150. Many of us will take the latter... but apparently enough don't mind paying!
Side note: last visit I ended up trading shots at the bar downstairs with a former NFL kicker while a horde of hangers-on tried to get him to take them to the club with him while Roy Hibbert hung out in the background drinking with his crew. |

I used to be a priceline/Hotel tonight guy for Vegas. Stayed in Flamingo a few times, Tusancy Suites, Mirage, Caesars. Enjoyed all those stays fine. Stayed once at Cosmo and now can't stay anywhere else. It's not only better and nicer than any other place, the staff are more outgoing, friendly, and the whole experience is worlds above any other casino. I'm not saying its worth $300 more per se, but if you can get it to be in the same ballpark it's totally worth it IMO, especially if you are Marriott platinum.

That's one of the best features I think. Never too far of a walk from parking garage to room, especially compared to some strip hotels. |
Thanks for the replies.
Another question I have concerns the frat party atmosphere I've read about. If I stay Mon-Thu night ( no Fri-Sat weekend nights ) , do I avoid most of these people ? |
let me consult my crystal ball for the future unknown day/dates and tell ya who is booked into the Cosmo...............

Obviously I don't avoid all of them. I'm just trying to compare weekend stay vs non-weekend stay.
|
:p logic says that if the university is in-session then "most" of the frat boys will be at school during Mon-Thurs, however since you have not listed any dates there are times when universities are not in session which may, or may not, have an impact on any response........

what areas of Cosmo were you concerned about encountering the frat folk in? Pool, marquee , corridor, lobby, casino?
(The AC, wifi and parking availability have all been excellent when I've stayed there) |
Sep 2-6 are my dates.
I'm just reading reviews here and on TA about entire floors filled with dope smoking parties, drunks puking in the hallways, pools ruined with loud & rowdy kids, etc. |
