* No Exec Lounge: gold/platinum members get complementary buffet breakfast at the restaurant with a nice outdoor seating area

* Restaurant is closed for dinner during the low season

* Parking is available at the hotel for 40 euros a night. There is a public parking garage (called L'Amy) that is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and charges ~18 euros for up to 24 hours.

I'll ask again since I am contemplating this place.

Do we have any reviews, at all, other than the single, sole, solitary review above that is nearly 1 1/2 years old???????????????????????

We were in Cannes for a week in August 2012. We loved the location. We were able to walk to Old Town for quaint, reasonable restaurants. We also walked to the dock to take the ferry to St. Tropez. There is a cheap bus that runs along the beach. We loved the rooftop pool. We paid a small fee for the beach club in front (chairs, great service, atmosphere). The train service to the airport and the main train station are walkable. We did not have a car, so took a couple of tours. Breakfast was great. We would definitely stay there again. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the great report. How were the rooms and did you receive any status upgrades/perks?

We are platinum, but are not sure whether the room was an upgrade. We had a high floor and could see the ocean, although the balcony was small. The room was big and nice. The breakfast (including week-ends) in the ocean view restaurant was a huge plus, especially since Cannes is so expensive. We loved the location and walking the promenade every evening.

I am debating between five award nights at the jw cannes or at the marriott riveria in monaco in august. Having a hard time choosing. Any suggestions between the two?

I am marriott gold. Will we be provided with breakfast and/or club access at either both?

Thanks in advance.

first place to find out info like this would be Sharon's sticky which she goes to alot of trouble and time to keep updated.......
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...-weekends.html
where you could read that at the JW only plats get full brekkie (so I'll assume that golds get what is required of the prop, continental)..............the Cap d-Ail prop provides full brekkie to both G/Ps (but is very difficult to find as this area is full of one-way streets)........

no exec lounge at either of these props.........

FYI, I'm staying here right now and was told (as Gold) that I can choose between Continental and American, though I think Plat may get menu items as well.

Here is a mini-review of the hotel.

Some positive aspects of the hotel (1) nice rooftop pool with panoramic view. (2) excellent central location and walkable to the main shopping area, restaurants, etc. (3) casino downstairs if you are a gambler (4) gold/platinum members get complementary buffet breakfast at the restaurant with a nice outdoor seating area (5) You need to use your room key to access the elevator which is always a nice security feature

Some negative aspects of the hotel (1) No doormen or bellmen. I have never seen this before at a JW. (2) Minimum room upgrade for platinum members. If you book the basic room, at most you will be upgraded from a city view to a garden view, but no suite or oceanview rooms even when they are available. You can pay extra for those upgrades (3) No exec lounge (4) Restaurant is closed for dinner during the low season

I believe parking is available at the hotel for 40 euros a night. There is a public parking garage (called L'Amy) that is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and charges ~18 euros for upto 24 hours.

Thanks for the mini-review. I posted a few of your points into a wiki.

Cheers.

Yes breakfast is still complementary for Platinums. You can get 750 points a night if you decide not to take the breakfast.

Sharon-

Apologies for the late input, but I just read back a few posts and then read the Wiki for this property. As a PP, the last time we were there, I booked the cheapest AAA rate (E169), and we were upgraded to a Prestige suite that had a city view from the bedroom and an ocean view from the living area. Just mentioning this so that future Plat or PP visitors know that they might get lucky if they make the effort for a good upgrade. I contacted the property a couple months in advance, so maybe that helped. Or maybe it was just one of those one-time lucky upgrades. We'll be back there in April, so I'll update after that visit.

Anyone stay here within the past year or so? Thinking of using this hotel for 5 nights on points, as a place to take a lot of day trips from(Saint Tropez, Antibes, etc). Reading some recent tripadviser reviews, seems Plats get a decent breakfast and possible suite upgrades.
