A family member got approved for the personal card today. Do all signs indicate that this is indeed the last day for the 20K/10K/$120 referral offer?

Yes--the referral links are still valid. Good. Still got 3 more referrals out there ready to roll soon...

Hi Canadian SPG AmEx card holders!

I'm a new member of the club... I just purchased 20k points from SPG using the card, thus exceeding the $500 spend to activate the 20k bonus points earning. By my calculations, that's 20k earned in bonus points, 20k purchased, plus 525 points for 1:1 dollar to Starwood point earnings. Total = 40,525 SPG in one day, not bad!

My question is: how long should I expect the signup bonus points (and 1:1 spend points) to post to the account? I activated the card a week ago. Should I see the points reflected at the start of my next cycle?

Thanks so much!!

well, how much did you pay for the 20K SPG points?
It'll be $120 annual fee + $ you paid for those 40525 SPG points

You'll see the 20K welcome SPG points on your next statement

$525 with the current 25% discount... that's where the additional 525 SPG comes from in the above calculations. Do I actually get Starpoint earnings on the $120 annual fee?? Great if so! That'd be 40,645 SPG to look for on my next month's statement... ^

No you don't
In general, no points/miles on any annual fee, be it AMEX or VISA/MC

so $525 + $120 for 40525 SPG = $0.016

Okay, that's what I figured... that's still 40,525 SPG on top of my existing balance. I'll be able to pay for my entire Venice trip with my current Starpoints. I'm very excited!!

What is the $0.016 calculation above in reference to; point value of my purchase in dollars?

I only bought the 20k Starwood points to top off my existing SPG balance in order to redeem a 10-night stay for an upcoming trip.

Could you not have had 'someone' living at your same address also apply for the card, gt the 20K bonus and then transfer the points from their SPG account to your SPG account? That would have been cheaper, saving you $405 ($525 pp less $120 annual fee).
