Thanks to scubaccr for the info (as of Dec 1st 2016)

o If you have lounge access you will be given room in new West Tower, So do not use East entrance or east checkin desk.

o don't use original main entrance to East Reception,
o Enter by car at same main security entrance
BUT
o Circle round and keep going to West Entrance
o have car/taxi carry on round "internal Marriott Road" to access next Marriott entrance at the West Tower Reception
(If you carry on round the public road, security guy won't let you into Marriott through second set of entrance barrier from the road ! (I tried 4pm today, 7th Jan))

Reason
o West Tower reception and elevators is quite some walk from East Tower checkin, and is on a lower level, and early December the escalator was not working so had to hump suitcases down stairs at end of inter-hotel East-West walk
o west tower entrance (similar to East entrance) once reached, hasextenal xray screening machine to screen all guest luggage before entry to hotel.

As it was explained to me, guests can accompany the elite member into the lounge for a meeting or to relax, but only 1 guest per elite member can take advantage of dining options, and this is strictly enforced during breakfast. Additional guests can dine for an up charge, fees listed below.

Executive lounge hours:
Open from 6a - 12mid every day
Breakfast - 6a - 10:30a (1000php for additional guests)
Afternoon tea - 2:30p - 5p (750php for additional guests)
Hors D'oeuvres - 5:30p - 7:30p (1500php for additional guests)
Evening Snacks - 7:30p - 9:30p (1500php for additional guests)

Also free was the other way around from Makati to the airport exit, when I used it a week ago.

Unsure if it's free from the southern parts. Maybe so, as there is no tollbooth operational.

For me this turns out to be a "win one and lose one." I am not sure that there is much to do around the new hotel but I will give it a try, at least when I am departing. I regret that both will not be available.

I just completed two stays of two days and three days over a 10 day period. The only value of the location is being closer to the airport than the Renaissance. The entertainment and restaurants are not open now and do not look close to opening. Only the Marriott and the casino are open. I will probably stick to my plan above and stay my last night at the new Marriott and then the other days at the New World.

As a side note, I had bad luck with taxis taken from the Marriott. The first driver took me to terminal one when I needed to go the old domestic airport terminal. When I took another taxi from the Marriott to Makati, at night, he ran out gas on a side street. The first taxi I could flag down had no meter!

Is there a Concierge Lounge open or planned? Thanks!

It's sad that there isn't free shuttle service between the MNL terminals.

Taxis in Manila are a pain generally.

Has anyone stayed at the Manila Airport Marriott recently? I'm going to be there for 3 nights in mid June. Is it fully operational? Do they have better taxi service? How are the Concierge Lounge, Internet Service (are gold/plat comped?), airport transfers, etc. Any room suggestions?

I get in at midnight on my arrival day and have a 6:00am flight on my departure day, so it seemed like a good place to stay. I'm heading to Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City during the day and am told that's no more than 45 minutes, even with bad traffic. True? Does the hotel provide car service?

Any thoughts, etc. appreciated.

Been there in Jan 2010. Hotel is fully operational, including a very nice lounge. Breakfast can be had in the lounge or in the restaurant downstairs. No free internet in the room.

ResortWorlds complex next door however did not offer anything special besides the casino. There was a lot of construction going on so that might have changed since i was there. ResortWorlds does offer a free shuttle service to NAIA Terminals which does have a stop right in front of the Marriott. Shuttle driver was telling me that they also do pick-ups at the terminals, however it seems you have to organise that before your arrival. I would recommend using a regular taxi for the trip from the airport, though. If arriving at NAIA T3 with hand luggage it should be possible to walk to the hotel as it is opposite of the terminal (must pass a busy road however).

I stayed at the Manila Marriott this week. Service, rooms, staff - everything was superb. On par with the best US FS hotels. The Lounge was unbelievable - eggs to order, snacks, etc all day (and staff to serve you), etc. Everything in the room worked - flat panel TV, rain shower head & big tub, A/C, workstation...

Internet charges in the room were not included for Gold/Platinum, but it was free in the Lounge. Here is the list I received of Gold/Platinum benefits:

All Day Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Snacks
Complimentary use of the Internet station inside the Club Lounge.
Two (2) items complimentary regular pressing per stay.
Two (2) hours complimentary use of the Club Lounge Boardroom (upon availability)
Private Check-in and Check-Out in the Lounge (6:00am-12:00mn)
Concierge and Basic Business Center Services in the Lounge
Complimentary WiFi inside the Lounge

Even though it's "at" the airport, unless you're flying out of the domestic terminal, it's about a 10 minute ride. PHP 700 for the hotel to pick up/drop off, less for a taxi.

The casino at Resort World is connected to the hotel. I went in and almost gagged from the smoke. It's big, but not anything unusual (except the band playing all day on the raised platform in the middle of the room). There are a bunch of stores in the attached Mall, but nearly all of them had big "Opening Soon" signs.

Great hotel - I recommend it.

Marriott vs Makati Shang

Has anyone stayed at both the Marriott and Makati Shang?

I'd love to hear a comparison of the properties and services offered. I am a Marriott Plat and a Shang Golden Circle Executive. I typically spend a significant amount of time in Shangri-La properties but I won't requalify this year since I've been staying at the new Marriott property in New Delhi in lieu of the Shang.

So, I am really interested in staying at the Marriott during my next trip if the property and services measure up to the Makati Shang.

I have call centers in Alabang, QC, Makati and Ortigas so I have longs trips most of the time no matter what part of the city that I stay in.

Nice to see all the big time college hoops teams represented on this thread... Rock Chalk, Jayhawk and I'll even throw out a friendly hello to the tar heels on the board..

Is there not a happy hour with free drinks in the evening?

I'm flying to Manila on Friday morning and have decided to spend my time in Manila at the new Marriott property, I am spending a few days in Cebu so I'll stay at the Mactan Island Shang there. If anyone has must-do experiences around the Marriott property please post here!

I'm definitely planning to golf at Villamor at least one morning after work...

A quick trip report for the new Marriott in Manila. I personally believe this is now one of the top hotels in Manila. This is my quick bullet summary:

Rooms: Large Rooms, 40" Flat Screen TV's and the shower/tub set up is sweet. Think of it as a huge shower that happens to have a claw-foot tub set up in the middle of it. Rainshower head. If you have kinky business, a motorized shade ascends so that a person can see into the shower from the bed.

Exec Lounge: Good breakfast, free happy hour and snack during open hours which is 0600AM till 1200AM. The staff is attentive and helpful.

Dining: There are 20+ dining options within the resort. Near the casino several "Greenbelt" style restaurants including Red Crab, Cafe Republiq, a Sushi place and a Cajun Place... The Marriott itself has some good restaurants too but they are sobrang mahal (expensive).

Amenities: Nice Spa, Pool and fitness facility. The pool has a few jetted areas closed off that are set up like a jacuzzi hot tub, but the water is cool. Nice way to cool off after a round of golf at the Villamoor golf course which is adjacent to the Marriot.

Golf: Villamoor is an OK course but the hassles associated with playing golf in a developing country are numerous. Pay your greens fee (and other fees), choose a caddy, choose an umbrella girl, play a 5.5 hour round, tip the caddy, tip the umbrella girl, dodge the other tip seekers on the way back to the car. I complain, but it never stops me from playing!

Casino: The Casino is top shelf, very nice. It rivals a Vegas/Atlantic City experience.

Location: Near the airport in Pasay, if you have business in Makati every day this is not the place to stay. In the afternoon, it can take over an hour to travel to Makati from the hotel. I jump around the city on my trips from Alabang one night to QC the next and to Ortigas the next so I'm always traveling somewhere each day for work.

I plan to stay here on my trips going forward. The Makati Shang is very nice but to receive my Marriott Plat experience, I will gladly stay at the Marriott on my future trips into Manila.

Nice report J_Hawk. Thanks!

It now says on their website (see below) that there is free shuttle service from T1. This makes a big difference, since it's a hassle dealing with the taxis. Even the official Yellow Taxis are running hot meters from the airport now.

I attempted to utilize this service when I returned to Manila from Cebu and gave up on the shuttle and took a taxi. I waited for about 20 minutes at the airport curb under the Marriott shuttle sign; I finally found a Marriott representative and asked when the next shuttle would arrive and he said about an hour...

I was pretty frustrated at this point and decided to just pay the 100p to take a taxi to the hotel...

Maybe this was due to the fact that the shuttle was a fairly new operation and the kinks hadn't been worked out or maybe my Kano expectation on shuttle timing is unreasonable!

At any rate, if anyone has a good experience with the shuttle, I would like to hear about it...

20 minutes is a long time to wait. I heard that the hotel only offers shuttle service every hour from the hotel to the airport! That seems odd.

There was a Marriott Shuttle sign at the arrivals level? I suppose it was at the median across the first street from where the Yellow taxis are waiting?

Was it indeed only 100p for the taxi?

Thanks!
