It would be best to just let it go. While you are correct in what you say remember they have the ultimate power. They can shut down all your accounts you have with them.

I have a home mortgage with Bank of America. Would I be able to go to the bank of america and use U.S. Mint to pay for one or two of my monthly mortgage with the U.S. mint coins?

Please PM or let me know if this is possible to do.

Thanks

I agree with that. We have to hope they allow us to deposit and hope they do not abuse the temporary power as we try to.

You could try it? Worst case they tell you no.

Any judgements of morality don't belong on FT. Save that for your personal life.

I've done it before, but they encouraged me to open a free account since I have my mortgage with them. I deposit into my checking and transfer it to my mortgage.

You don't really understand FT, do you?

If one posts, those posts can be judged, analyzed, praised, challenged, discounted, dismissed or made fun of.

Aha - Made $5 on my first score!

I got my first batch yesterday and went to one of my fave coin dealers. He gave me $105 credit for the 4 rolls I gave him towards a silver coin purchase.

I'll be saving a bunch of coins towards a hurricane stash. We in FL are wise to keep a stash of cash during hurricane season in case of a widespread power outage where ATMs and banks might not work. I used to keep $20s as a stash, but the dollar coins would be more practical to buy a loaf of bread or whatever. I'm certainly not going to keep a stash of $1 bills.

I'd love to get what you've been drinking/eating/smoking..etc because your statment is just plain stupid. Where on flyertalk do people not judge the morality or merits of one's actions that are posted on here?!?!?!

Judgements belong here more so than anywhere else. If someone who lacks some intelligence posts some idiotic posting which clearly violates the rules of a program and potentially could ruin it for others, than it needs to be stated. Further more, I highly doubt those who run/are responsible for Flyertalk would want to willingly support or appear to support, somebody who is blatantly cheating the system.

First of all-ly. 99% of the banks (hopefully) have no true concept of the 'terms' of said program nor do any of us in here plan to enlighten them, but even if they did, those terms can, as you know from reading every post in here, be interpreted in many many ways.
No, the rules are quite clear. It's people like you looking to cheat the system who want to interpret them in any way possible. NO immediate deposit and $1000 every ten days is QUITE CLEAR. Unless you lack intelligence and the ability to comprehend simple English, I'd say you are well aware of the correct intrepretation, but choose to ignore them.

It's if the bank or its employees thinking that I am scamming them at the time I bring in my coins that would count. That's what matters. And they have the power to stop it or delay it. In most cases, as many have found upon walking into a branch, whether you are nice or pushy, they are going to react similarly: Oh dear... um what have you got there, coins? There's a reaction that's not the same as say, the guy at the next window depositing 3 checks for $30 or the lady on the other side asking for a new book of checks.
Well clearly there's going to be a weird reaction. Who the hell has $1000 to deposit in unwrapped mint coins??? That should send off a bell in anybody's head that something isnt right here (which it isnt). Unless you bought these coins at the retail price or recieved them from someone else for a purchase, there's no reason a deposit should be made in that amount, per the program rules. End of story. This has NOTHING to do with power of bank tellers, and all to do with your greed and lack of understanding of the rules of the program. Your failure to see that is both sad, and hilarious.

~I owe neither you nor anyone else in here any speckle of supposed morality or ethical points in explaining myself or my method or my means, just as you owe me nothing in return in this area. We try to do what we think works/is as right as we feel we need to be, but in the end, it is what it is and no two posters are going to be exactly alike. Live with it mate and move on!
Says the man who doesnt wish to admit that he may have possibly violated the rules of the program, for it would end his "mile earning" gig.

So I suggest we end the argument you seem to wish to begin before the MODs get involved. Remember what Aviators99 said when he reopened this thread!
I doubt Flyertalk would want to be associated with anybody who is blatantly disregarding the Mint's program/procedures. If this topic is closed again - it would be because of that. The whole point of Flyertalk is to look at ways of legally and ethically making use of loyalty programs and special offers to the max potential.

I agree.

Of course Flyertalk does not want to be associated with those types of people.

What kind of example would that set?

That's why Flyertalk and it's members in forums and seminars will only associate with:

-consumers of large volumes of pudding,
-Thai rice farmers employers,
-Inside Flyer volume purchasers,
-Track It Back procurement specialists,
-fuel dump and price error masters,
-credit card churners

(help me out with others I've missed)

It is those proud red-blooded, yellow luggage tag-waving Americans (and maybe some fortunate Canadians) that are upstanding and 100% ethical in following a programs policies and procedures.

I am a Flyertalker and proud to say so. (wipes tear)

But those people who buy US mint coins and take them to the bank? aka: Coin Nerds. (arrrgh - I hate them so much!)
You will be hard pressed to find ANY mention or acceptance or association with that ilk. We eschew and spit them out.

Phhhht!!!

Did you mean to say wrapped instead of unwrapped. If they are unwrapped a laundromat or car wash or someone that deal with vending machines could easilly have $1K in them unwrapped. I am buying them on my personal credit card for hilton points and my firms checking account cuts me a check back for them for petty cash. A new company took over our lot we used for paid client parking last year and a couple part time people and people who maybe stop in the office a few times a week for just a couple hours and who are on the road parked there as well. We used to validate and get invoiced once a month, but the new owner won't accept validations to bill off of, so when someone parks there now we give them the money out of petty cash in the form of dollar coins. I know some clients think they are cool and keep them and pay with paper $, but with our employees and clients that do use the coins, the parking company will have a nice deposit of those.

If you meant to say wrapped, again it's possible it's not a person purchasing them from the mint or who has any idea of the program. Some contractors want paid in cash. I had a contractor paint a few rentals for me and had charged the paint to his personal card and wanted paid for everything in cash which was over $1,000. He was paid in wrapped mint dollar coins and asked me how I got so manyt of them so he obviously was unawre of the program. If he went to his bank to deposit them instead of spending them, I hope his bank didn't hassle him.
