I think it's about 58 coins per lb. The packaging is pretty light, so I'd still expect at least 6,000 coins.

The CC correctly shows $500 authorization.

OK, the email from The Mint has another tracking number - something starts with 2956 - is this UPS to USPS method?

In the past it is always UPS Ground.

Now it is UPS Next Day Air, and then deliver by USPS?!

My last shipping confirmation e-mail showed three tracking numbers:
USPS (9101....) http://www.usps.com
UPS Mail Innovations (2956....) http://www.ups-mi.net/packageID/
UPS (1Z....) http://www.ups.com

Only one was actually valid (UPS), but it's almost like they print labels and generate tracking numbers to potentially use different methods.

So this Next Day Air has arrived and DELIVERED per UPS site. I assume this is to the Post Office and now my order will be sent by USPS then.

Neither tracking number in the email works with the UPS - USPS website tracking.

This starts to become annoying.

EDIT:

A box is dropped in our airconditioning closet with UPS note on the door. Dont know WHEN this happened - not even a door bell. (we live in a condo and UPS in the past always rang the bell.)

I ordered two sets of coins on 1/3/09. One set was of coins I had already received in the past, and that order is just sitting in my order summary, awaiting to be processed (or cancelled).

My Native American coins showed as being shipped USPS, with a 1Z UPS tracking number. Those coins arrived yesterday (10 days after order date) via UPS next-day delivery.

The UPS to USPS method is pretty common - four of my six orders delivered to date were done in that manner. I'm still awaiting my Native American coins, as I was hoping to have $100 to take to Vegas this weekend.

The 2nd item on the order, $250 of John Adams shows shipped with tracking number starting with 910290.... I assume this is Post Office parcel shipment. The number is not alive yet, and I have not received email from Mint for this shipment either. I just hope it would arrive w/o hitch.

FWIW, I already maxed out John Adams, so this is additional that has not been line-cancelled.

It seems a lot of shipments going out via UPS Next Day Air. A friend in CA received theirs via UPS Next Day Air also despite he called to order and requested Register Mail because he would not be at home to take delivery.

I've brought in about $2800 so far to my bank branch, in several installments. (I do spend some of them!) The tellers told me they wouldn't have taken them had the coins not been in rolls. Moral of story: best not to break them open unless your bank asks.

Martin Van Buren ???

Does anyone know when Martin Van Buren goes on sale. Is this delay typical?

OK, the 250 has email from Mint, with boththe 2956 and 9102 (not 9101) numbers.

None works on USPS site.

The collectible coins are already on sale. The circulating coins will be available after they've had time to circulate, so probably in a short order.

I haven't noticed it before, but there is an ad next to these $1 coins that the US Mint will "ship worldwide" for international sales.
