Question to pros: should I just cancel my 2nd order since it seems like if it hasn't went in process in 6 days then might be faster to cancel and reorder.?
How did you place the 2 orders? Are they exactly the same, including name/address/credit card etc?

Got my 2/3 order yesterday. I like to keep a few rolls and spread the coins around town. Last night I went into a store where I handed the cashier 14 coins for my $13.XX bill. She looked at them like I had just handed her toxic sludge. I explained to her that they are golden Presidential dollar coins. She examined one and then turned to her boss and asked "Do we take these?" As I was leaving, I heard her ask "Where do I put these in my drawer?"

2 of the most common questions when one spends these dollars. Another that I often get is "How much are these worth" or "These are worth $2, correct?" Several times, I've had people going that they are $2 pieces and could have gotten away with it, but then corrected them before I left

I've also taken to leaving them as tips... I wonder if any of the servers I've left those for have thought that.

What is very interesting is when I find a place that takes them without a second look. I almost expect to have to explain what a dollar coin is now.

I made two separate orders for 3K each (SPG Amex, Chase Co, AA Visa) 10 days apart and went in and deposited at my local Chase. It took a little bit of time but they didn't give me much grief.

For those that have deposited at Chase, what is the quickest way to do it? What can I do to make the process go faster before I even get to the bank?

Thanks

I usually have the boxes at least broken open before I get there or even do it before I get to the teller.

I use them for tips as well and feel cheap dropping them in tip jars like on the airport shuttle and at the coffee house in my building when others are watching. I am scared they wil think I am dropping in quarters or nickles instead of dollars

I use them at this little convenience store by my office every time I go in which is usually once a day. I didn't make it in Monday and when I went in Tuesday he told me he missed me. He said this one customer that comes in every morning for coffee saw one of the coins on his register (he puts them on top of the register instead of in the till) and offered to buy it and he told the guy I pay in the coins and the guy always wants to buy his dollar coins now. I told the owner if he ever wants to buy more for the customer I have plenty for sale

One time his daughter filled in for him and had never seen the coins before. She asked me if they were US coins LOL. I told her yes and he dad takes them. She asked how much they were worth and looked at both of them and said "these are really cute"

It's amazing how many people don't know what they are.

As mentioned above, open the boxes. And ensure that 10 rolls are in each, prior to going inside. Some Chase banks run a magnet against each roll to "ensure none are fake." I dislike going to this bank b/c it adds a few minutes to the transaction, but it's so convenient for me.

In central PA, my mom said several farmer's markets have coin stands that are trying to sell these for $1.50-$2 each. She tried to sell them rolls at $1.20 each ($30/roll) and they laughed at her... hey, it was worth a shot!

I've searched and haven't found this answer, but I'm sure it has been answered, so please forgive me if I'm being redundant.

The question:

Can you take these coins, in great numbers, say 5000 or 10,000, to Vegas and turn them in at the cash counter machines or the cashier cages?

Thanks!

I'm sure they will accept them at the cashier cage Not sure how happy they will be about it though. $1k in coins weighs about 20 lbs so if you have $5K that is almost 100 lbs. How are you going to carry them through the casino?

I would try cashing in $1K to $2k at a time.

Another issue is if you are flying. If you are flying and are going to take even $5K in coins that iwll be almost 100 lbs. Even with medal on Delta you can only have 70lbs in a checked bag. If you decide to put them in your roller bag you are probalby going to have an issue with TSA doing a bag check and then lifting the heavy bag into the bin.

I would

You mean casinos refuse the coins???? I can understand how they can be a pain for the cashiers cage, but why would they refuse the coins, especially if the customer asks for table chips when they cash them in?
