most i've deposited at once is $1000 if you order 2 boxes at a time thru mint, $1000 worth fits in the exterior package pretty well. most tellers just saw something like "wow, where did you get all these?". i just tell them "from the mint". never had an issue. never more than $1k at a time

What is the purpose about discussing the how to put them into circulation? This isn't how this thread started out. If people are scared to talk about there orders then the moderator should shut this down and then start a new thread.

Well, in the spirit of sharing "what I did with my coins this week," I used them to pay my entry fee for a 5k, pay for numerous trips to my local coffee shop, and for a few restaurant tips. They're definitely a conversation piece-- most of the folks I gave them to hadn't seen them before.

I unloaded a bunch of my coins on the local Girl Scout cookie booth sale at the grocery store. The girls thought they were cool.

The same could be said about someone who orders $5k in coins then posts about how he used $25 of them over the weekend to tip. I agree that if someone wants to start up a separate thread on useful ways to use coins it might be helpful.

I am sure the moderators are monitoring the thread and will lock this down or just let it die when nothing new or useful is supplied anymore. I still remember when the Mint started to cancel orders over the limit, YOU had several posts asking the thread to be locked. The moderators, however, did not see it that way, and until now we are still discussing the topic here.
And I agree with Astrophsx.

Maybe you should just say posting about how much you have deposited is not helpful information and only adds to the number of posts one has to skim through in order to find helpful information.

I don't know how this thread was hijacked and the format changed so quickly. I say for those who want to talk about there grocery bill they should start there own thread. This thread was about ordering coins. I understand why people don't want to talk about specific details and that's okay. But we need to know what being process and who is taking delivery. That helps other read between the lines whats going on.
If people want to talk about how they settle there bar tab that's fine, but we should not be criticized for talking about deposits and deliveries since this is how the thread started. If I remember correctly the moderator temporally shut this thread because no one was receiving coins. If we can't discuss coins now then the moderator should close it and you toll booth coin payers can start a new thread.
buschoi, I think we were typing the same time. I'm not taking shoots at one person specifically. I'm just upset that this forum was hijacked.

I am not sure if you are talking to me. If you are, I don't think anybody should be scared to talk about their orders. If they are, then they just do not have to join.

Anyway, I am done with this meaningless argument.

As a point of reference, I took coins to the Seminole Hard Rock casino in Hollywood and was told that they would only exchange $50 per person for gaming. I brought them thinking I could play them, but slots didn't take them and table games didn't either. At the coin exchange, they made me unroll the dollars before exchanging them for bills.

Personally, I hope that the Mint gets the Fed to require banks to report the names of people who deposit large numbers of coins, so the Mint can cut those people off entirely (and let the rest of us, who spend them, continue with it).

Has anyone in NJ paid their real estate taxes with coins?
Town at one time took cc but now charges a pretty hefty fee. Being NJ, not using card for points means losing quite a few. If I could get points for coins, then pay taxes - a way to get points for taxes

So by extension...if you, and other coins holders are paying for a good or service with the same local business owner with said coins on a regular basis and then this vendor takes a large portion of those coins you and others paid him with to the bank for deposit in their business account they should be reported?!
Seems wildly unfair and ultimately will end up having the opposite effect on you...since you will see most vendors will stop accepting these coins because they fear they will be reported to the Fed.
