Next big deal? There wont be a deal this great ever again. Free miles by the 100,000's. Where you gonna get that?

Honestly, once the attention h ores got a hold of this and started making websites and referral links it died. Who in their right mind would share a great idea? It'll get shut down when people start getting interviewed for the WSJ and other outlets. Shame that our own boards on FT ruined this gig. It would have run for another 4-5 yrs.

Yet the US Mint selling boxes of rolled dollar coins including free shipping with the majority of those who bought them directly depositing them into the bank to collect frequent flier miles when the Mint's intent was to get them circulated- is a good idea?

If it wasn't NPR that ran the story, some other gumshoe reporter would have... and would still find people to talk in depth about it.

I think the Mint tolerated bad press until inventory levels became acceptable. Dollar churners helped them dump a white elephant.

Oh BTW, the Mint is going pay off the national debt with $1T platinum coins.

From what I've read, that deal is over also.

That one was a little beyond me.

This one was right on the line. Sometimes I ordered; sometimes I felt a little guilty.

But once I got a new card with a spending bonus, the guilt seemed to disappear.

At least I can't feel guilty now.

You missed the point. The problem was not the people who ran reports about it.

Actually, it covered both points... people who reported on it and people who willing, even with bravado, talking about it.

From the NPR article:

""We've used them to go on trips around the world," said Jane Liaw, a 35-year-old public health researcher and science writer in San Francisco, as reported by NPR. She added that she and her husband were currently planning trips to Greece and Turkey, "all on miles and points.""

Not anymore Jane

LOL

One question. Did DD ever file a police report?

They did an interview with a local survivalist group awhile back, their main sources of income were disability, food stamps, and this very scam.

I guess none of y'all have any self-respect?

You are still missing the real culprit in this whole mess. What do all the stories have in common?

My order which was in process is now stated as back order until aug 8. Wonder if they will just cancel it since they now no longer accept credit cards.
