Seems like they bounce from "not available" to available all the time.
We will see if any of the latest orders actually ship. Have tried to get status online but all it says is that the system is unavailable and to call.
Hope my orders come through because it will give me gold status on HHonors.

So what exactly do I do with the coins?
So I order the order the coins and get the points but what do I do with the coins? Do you guys just show up at the local branch with $5000 worth of coins to deposit? Every couple of months? I could use it buy everything I need but cant imagine carrying that much weight around with me.
PS: the first part is a serious question. How exactly do you use these coins?

So I read first 100 or so posts. So I guess I can do the following with them:
-Take them to the bank. Two blocks away and I could be lifting "weights" on the way
-Pay for small items/coffee/minor tips but that would take forever to use and would require me to carry them around
-Do grocery shopping with them - go in with a cart load of coins come out with a cart load of food... The coin for food program if you will
.
Personally with cash at a premium and the auto industry in dire needs, I would to take this down to the local car dealership and trade in 12,000 coins for a car
just to annoy them. Thats after I tell them I need the best deal because I will pay fully in cash. May even throw in a few quarters and dines just for fun.

Only way to make the coins "pay" is to take them to the bank and put them in circulation that way.

Firefox
Here's an oddity. When I use Firefox as my browser, which I usually do, I am only able to order one item on the Mint's catalog page. When I try to order a second one my mouse sort of freezes. it just won't turn into a little hand and enter the new item.
I close Firefox, open IE and I'm good to go. Just ordered 10 boxes.

I ordered $2k on Feb 25th and another $500 two days later. Other than an initial confirmation email. I haven't seen anything from them. One of the charges has been made to my AMEX, but hasn't posted to my account.
I tried calling the number on the mint's website and I was on hold for 20 mins one day and 30 mins yesterday. I have no idea what to do from here. I can't sit all day by the phone even though every few minutes I am assured that, "my call is important," to them.
Oy. I'm starting to wonder if these coins are worth it. Has anyone else had this problem?

My experience this past week has been that in checking on my order of Feb. 13 they say that there is a system problem with online orders that sometimes get hung up in their system. So the items show a code that indicates the items are on hold for shipment pending credit card authorization. The credit card companies say no attempt was made by the Mint to charge anything. So I have the card companies primed to accept the bill and the Mint has re-entered the charges on the cards. They say that should generate the order to be sent.

I am having tons of problems with my 2 orders placed on 2/13/08 as well. After numerous of calls, none one in the Mint could explain what's the holdup for. Even the level-2 CSR finally released my orders, my orders are still not picked after a whole week. I didn't even order 20 boxes!

The pending charge had dropped off my Amex more than a week ago. When I called Amex on Friday, I was told the charge was originally authorized on 2/13. However, if the merchant fails to post the charge after 21 days (from the authorization), it will automatically fall off. The merchant will have to call back and get a new authorization. I told them I doubt the Mint would even bother to call and get 2nd authorization. The Mint would probably "reject" my order, citing cc problem. Since the Mint has been so behind and taking more than 21 days to complete orders (from ordering to shipping), certain orders using Amex have been cancelled or dropped "without no reasons." No we know why.

Even the Mint CSR assured me the coins had been reserved for my orders, I simply have no clue at this point if they are going to ship my orders.
