Easy one time spending advance?
 

I have just over $2k minimum spend left in the next month and I don't normally spend more than about half that much in a month. I guess I'm looking for a convenient gift card I can buy easily or something like that that won't go to waste.

I don't need anything to scale up or be able to do indefinitely. Just a one-off of about $1k that doesn't take more than a week to set up. Oh -- and it has to work in Canada (so none of these store cards) and for Visa (so no Paytm).

I *really* don't like buying GC to hit spend on a new card. If you buy anywhere that send Level3 data, and they decide to audit.....

My gas & electric utility charges only a small fixed fee for a credit card payment, so it's a no-brainer, I just do one very large overpayment. Carry a credit balance on the account for some months.

Similarly I just overpaid my internet bill, unfortunately the maximum credit balance allowed is $300, so a lesser contribution.

If I were to GC, it'd probably be hotel chain GC purchased at front desk. Inseparable from hotel charges.

What's the deal with store cards in Canada?
