Hi everyone, I need some help with BestBuy. Thanks.

I am new to using buying groups for MSing. I check this post and found that someone suggested BuyForMeRetail. I then tried this buying group. My first purchase (an Apple product through BestBuy) went through. However, after one day, I received a phone call that was supposedly from BestBuy. They asked me what is the shipping address for the order: Is this a house, an apartment, or an office address?? I told them that I forget which addressed that I used and I really need to check to find out. They said that (OK, just check, and I will call you back tomorrow). How should I tell them when they call me back tomorrow? The shipping address is the office of the buying group, while I am living in another state (I used my current address as the billing address as that is required--the billing address must match the address on the CC).

I am a little bit nervous .now because I think that I am caught by purchasing things for a buying group. Thanks for any advice. Thanks.

You probably aren't cut out for this. Nothing to be nervous about your scenario. Several merchants cancel orders to buying groups, Best Buy being one of them.

Thanks a lot for the reply. Then, if they call me again today, what should I say?

Are there any issues with having orders sent directly from the retailer to the buying group? I only tried this once with Amazon and USA Buying Group, and it worked well. But I've heard others have had orders cancelled?

Of course there is. Many retailers know the main buying group addresses and will instantly cancel any order going to them.

This is a safety issue as well as a fraud prevention issue.

Several years ago, someone hacked one of my credit cards and placed an order for a very expensive SLR camera on-line. They requested that it be shipped to an address which differed from my credit card billing address. The company stupidly assumed that all was kosher and shipped the camera to the hacker's phony address (probably had someone pick up the parcel outside the drop-off address). At that time, I did not have alerts to warn me of CC purchases, and when I saw the bill, of course I denied ever initiating it.

I suspect the merchant ate the loss. The CC company reversed the charge to me after it was discovered that the shipping address didn't match the billing address.

So, I suspect that merchants such as Best Buy, who probably have more experience than they wish in this arena, will cancel any electronic order that does not match a purchaser's billing address, or make the credit card buyer go through a lot of hoops if they want the item shipped to an alternative address. I suspect that if that address is a known buying group, cancellation is almost a given.

Please see my postings above. Surprisingly, my two orders from BestBuy all shipped to the Buying Groups addresses. One item has even been delivered. Another one was shipped already but has not been received. I possibly would not do this again in the near future with BestBuy again. If they call me again, it is very hard for me for to explain this activity.

This info is so out of date and incomplete - we need a goo sticky post and not this hackish opinion

I have tried the following clubs and here are my review
  1. Pointsmaker - Best in the business. Takes fewer risks. Consistent with somepayment times
  2. MYS Buying Group - Pointsmaker & MYS use the same type of software. Next best. Comes up with slightly more deals than pointsmaker. Once they asked members to return an item. They compensated for the inconvenience.
  3. USA Buying Group - Offers the same deals as MYS. Terrible communications and hardly respond to messages. They also asked to return the same item as MYS. I don't think it went well with the members
  4. Simtec (Closed) -
  5. YRCW - Handles everything through WhatsApp. Personally, I found it inconvenient. Lesser deals.
  6. Buy For Me Retail - Very less number of deals. They offer a lesser amount than other groups for the same deal.
Stores:
Tax free state - If you live in a tax-free state, you will be able to participate in almost all deals. You will ship the products to your home and then ship it to buying groups. Usually buying groups provided shipping labels for qty of 5 or more.

Walmart - Always cancels the order to the buying group address
Best buy - All apple orders to the buying group address cancels. Most other products ships but off late, it has been hit or miss.
Amazon - The easiest. All orders ship.
Google Express - Once google shut google account of members (including Gmail) for shipping to buying groups.
Ebay - Many cases of a permanent ban. Once banned, you cannot create another one with same address.

Any experience with Sams Club? Many thanks!

When you requested a check you didn't see the message saying it can take 10-14 business days during high season?

And that's after you wait two weeks for it to get scanned in if it's not lost. I cancelled a couple thousand dollars in ipad orders after lost one order. Amazon refunded the lost order but I'm not testing my luck

Luckily Im only in a few hundred. Crazy that they lose packages as I always get a reply from Amazon stating it was left at the front desk.

I have really good experince with Buy For Me Retail. They dont have the same amount of deals but do pay very quickly.

Same here. I am new to buying groups, and I am dealing with Buyformeratial only at this moment. They pay really fast. I have not experienced any negative things with them so far except that they do not reply e-mails.

I mean they only lost a $164 of stuff but its the fact it was lost that concerns me. What if had been an iPhone that was delivered the next day. I might try another company before using MYS again, they just pay too slow as well.

My last round of Amazon orders are all saying "it's on the way, but it's running late" for items that should've arrived last Friday. These all had Amazon tracking numbers (not UPS) so there is very little tracking info. I feel like there's a good chance it was delivered but won't know for sure until MYS does/doesn't check it in.
