Signing up to buy $1000 visa/mc gift cards
You can buy the $1000 cards on Simon's volume site. Their regular site only sells $500 cards.
If you're new, or haven't bought anything in a year, you need to register at https://www.simon.com/volume/register-consumer
As part of the registration process, you will have to go to a brick and mortar mall and buy at least $3000 in cards in person, as well as filling out some paperwork while there. After that, you can do everything online.
As of Nov 2020, Simon Mall Gift cards will only work for $99/swipe for money services at Walmart and many grocery chains.
$1000 gift cards are available indefinitely.

How are you trying to buy it? 2 of 3 WMTs allowed me to purchase a $475 MO with a single VGC no questions asked. The 3rd WMT told me it had to be a real debit card, not a gift card. Of course I didn't volunteer that it was a gift card at any of them...

Probably best to use WM BP sparingly. I experimented today for the first time in a long long time with WM BP for Fidelity Visa. Will use this sparingly if it goes through.

I've only ever tried to get 2 $1K MOs with 4 $500 GCs. I was fortunate to find a WM that doesn't have an MC and the ladies behind the counter are usually talking to another CSR to care if I'm using 2 or more GCs. Guess if it ever gets an MC, I'll have to do 1 MO at a time.

Blackhawk has been having issues recently. My mall has had issues on Thursday and Friday.
I’m a Simon employee, and I haven’t heard anything in regards to the $1k cards being extended. Sometimes I do hear the news on forums before my higher ups pass along the message.

Mine sold me 1Ks without problems, didn't mention anything about official ending date being finalized.
