Discounts/rebates on Visa/MC gift cards at Office Depot/Office Max(2018-19)

Apparently, I earned $4 in OD rewards on one of my GC purchases during the last promo!

Yeah, OD gives 2% rewards on everything now, including gift cards. Rewards on GCs are capped at $200 spend per quarter.

Is there any downside to letting them track and see how many gift cards you purchase?

Maybe. I generally stop giving my rewards card for gift card purchases after I've hit the $200 in a quarter. But I tend to use the same credit card (Chase Ink Bold, soon to be replaced by an Ink Plus) so they can track it anyway.

I was thinking the same thing, if my store were to sort gift card amounts by credit card, mine (ink) would have to be at the top of their list so they could probably track me anyhow.

I really can't see anything positive about letting them track your gc purchases. After all the maximum is $16 in a year. Is that worth the potential problems down the road if they single you out. Not for me!

He's saying the max is $200 per quarter. Which would be $800 a year. Where's the $16 you're getting?

the $200 refers to purchases, not rebates. Two percent of $200 is $4. $4 times 4 is $16.

Oh wow, that is a lousy reward then, but I guess better than nothing. I don't see it as a problem by using your rewards for 4 VGC transactions per year.

When you add the $4.00 reward to the periodic $20 discount on $300 VGC purchases, combined with 5X miles on Ink cards, everybody is happy.

No doubt, stacked with the VisaSavingsEdge $5 off, you can make a few bucks off the next promo.

Thanks for the tip on VisaSavingsEdge. While Office Depot maxes out at $5, I've been doing a lot with Newegg (not MS) and they max out at $200. Hopefully, this'll stack with portals like TopCashBack.

Same deal, $10 off of $300 visa gift card, is back for the next week, 3/11-3/17. Take additional $5 back from VisaSavingsEdge, and get $4 credit for the next quarter (the credit cannot be used for gift cards but buy stamps or anything else).
