THIS IS A NEW THREAD FOR 2018. The previous thread is here.
***If you buy gift cards outside promotions, you will earn ZERO points.***

Accepted tender: Cash, credit, and debit. Also available are mobile/contactless payment (Apple Pay, etc.) and mobile loyalty (card barcode via app).

Summary
Stop & Shop (S&S), Giant Food Stores (Giant PA), and Giant Food (Giant MD) offer points for purchases which can be redeemed for a discount on the price paid per gallon on fuel sales at Shell and S&S/Giant fuel stations. $100* spend = 100 pts = 10c/gal discount. The particular rules vary between the three brands, and within Giant PA, the rules vary by location. Refer to the bottom of this wiki post for more information or links to official info from each brand.

You can earn gas points from both regular grocery shopping and gift card purchases (promotion only).

The grocery reward points (Go Rewards or Flexible Reward) can be transferred to either gas points (Fuel Rewards) or grocery points. The conversion rate is 100 points = $0.10/gallon or 100 points = $1 saving in grocery.

- - - - - - - - - -

Additional Information

• A loyalty card is required to take advantage of gas rewards. They look like the above image and can be obtained either online (links at end of wiki) or in-person (at the customer service counter).

• The cards currently on promotion are listed in the current weekly circular and usually change every week. VISA and MC from Metabank or US Bank for $20-$500 (plus $5.95 fee) work. For GCs, if it meets the previous requirements, the packaging (blue, silver, birthday cake, etc.) doesn't matter! Check the issuing bank on the back.

• S&S and Giant (DC, DE, MD, and VA) allow you to redeem up to 1500 points ($1.50/gal) per fuel purchase, and points expire 30 days after the qualifying purchase. With Giant PA, there is no limit to the number of points redeemed at one time.

• Points earned in one program cannot be used in another program.

• Your ID may be required when buying gift cards. Your name and other info may also be recorded for purchases over a discretionary dollar value. Whether you're buying a $100 card or a $5k stack, your experience will vary.

• You can view your account online using the link at the bottom of the wiki.

• It's best to purchase gift cards at the customer service counter, but reports state that a single $500 gift card can be paid for at any register without an issue. Purchases over $1k will require manager authorisation with a physical key, which may slow down the queue. You can go to the Solution Center to save time and make things easier for everyone.

• Giant Eagle and Giant Food are different chains with different ownership, and this thread is not relevant to the former.

• If you have more points in your account than are redeemed for a fuel purchase, then the remaining points will stay in your account until their respective expiration date(s). For example, if you have 2500 points and debit the 1500 ($1.50/gal) maximum, you will have 1000 points left. Similar behavior if gas is ever below $1.50/gal before discount.

• If you don't receive eligible points with your purchase due to system or human error, you can have them retroactively added by customer service (in-store or by phone). Have your receipt and a copy of the advert. It can take up to 24 hours for keyed points to appear in your account.

my data point: i bought $1k thursday morning (5/31) with linked MC, was ready to fill up this morning for free, and just realized i only got 3 cents for every $100.

i’m certain that as of the time of my purchase thursday, the 15 cent promo was still active. i’ll send out an email.

Data point... i bought $1500 5/30. It posted 6/1 at $0.15/gallon expiring 7/31. I almost waited till 5/31 apparently 5/30 may be the last day that got $0.15 without having to email in.

So I just linked my FR with my S&S account (I had technical issues and it took several calls to finally get it linked). Anyway, I've got FR Gold Status through my CSP, they added an extra 10 cents as an appology due to the technical issues I had, plus whatever T-Mobile gives me now and then on T-Mobile Tuesday.

I logged into my account and saw this (below). No way I'm getting $5.50 off per gallon (but I'll take it lol). I'm assuming that balance is consolidated with all my S&S points. Does Shell allow you to get more than $1.50 off per gallon? Like, how does the combination of S&S points and Shell points work?

That surprise reversion to Mastercards only giving 3 cents per $100 kind of sucks. But thanks for the heads up so I don't get caught in that trap. I guess this same thing happened a month or two ago and then they went back to 15 cents? So I guess we can see if they reload the 15 cents. In the meantime, since I live "on the border" between Giant MD and Giant PA I can still get my completely free summer gas at (the slightly less convenient for me) Giant PA stores. At least this week's promo is particularly good for Giant PA because their gas points will be good all the way through July 31. Giant PA has a much better program than Giant MD when gas is expensive and there's no meaningful Mastercard bonus to get you above the $1.50 gas discount.

If you have any FR points available, those will be added to the 1.50 from S&S/Giant, up to the max allowed at your station. Most stations in MD, the minimum price you can achieve is .109 per gallon.

There's a 2x MC promo this week. I bought 10 cards today and totally forgot to check my points until long after I left the store. I'll just wait a few days to see if they post, I know some people report this problem occasionally, anybody else have it this time?

what part of Maryland are you. I can personally confirm South of Annapolis pretty much every shell lets me get down to $0.019 or $0.38 for 20 gallons. There there are two exception I know of that cap at the $0.19. Luckily I am closest to the $0.019. A Bethesda shell also has given me the $0.019.

Variable MCGC with blue, purple and white dots with "Celebrate" on the card is not getting S&S gas points.

Purple present variable MCGC is getting S&S gas points.

It was also posted during the last 2x MCGC promo 2 weeks ago that, "The MCGC variable with a blue card that says "Gift Card" didn't get S&S points either. Only the Purple present did." Might be true for this weeks promo.

Interesting, thanks. Yes, I bought the 'Celebrate' card. Will have to go back or call them to get my points.

I was asked if I spent more than $2000 for the day at Stop and Shop because if so they had to file some report. Not sure if this is a new thing or just the store . It was in Massachusetts. The next day I wasn't asked. Granted it was a different store but still in Massachusetts. I'm sitting on 6k points to use by Jul 05. I wish S&S would let you use more than the $1.50 (1500 points) a gallon. So thats 4 tank fulls which is going to be a stretch this month.

Some S&S stores have a official looking poster on the wall that says purchases over $2k need to fill out the form, so I understand it is company policy - does not mean employees always remember though

The 4 S&S around me that I've purchased from, it's very YMMV depending on the employee. The same store, one employee will take down my info for just 1 $500 VGC purchase while another employee won't even ask to see my ID for $2000 purchase.
