Stop & Shop and Giant supermarkets gas rewards points on gift card purchases(2018-24)

THIS IS A NEW THREAD FOR 2018. The previous thread is here.
***If you buy gift cards outside promotions, you will earn ZERO points.***

Accepted tender: Cash, credit, and debit. Also available are mobile/contactless payment (Apple Pay, etc.) and mobile loyalty (card barcode via app).

Summary
Stop & Shop (S&S), Giant Food Stores (Giant PA), and Giant Food (Giant MD) offer points for purchases which can be redeemed for a discount on the price paid per gallon on fuel sales at Shell and S&S/Giant fuel stations. $100* spend = 100 pts = 10c/gal discount. The particular rules vary between the three brands, and within Giant PA, the rules vary by location. Refer to the bottom of this wiki post for more information or links to official info from each brand.

You can earn gas points from both regular grocery shopping and gift card purchases (promotion only).

The grocery reward points (Go Rewards or Flexible Reward) can be transferred to either gas points (Fuel Rewards) or grocery points. The conversion rate is 100 points = $0.10/gallon or 100 points = $1 saving in grocery.

- - - - - - - - - -

Additional Information

• A loyalty card is required to take advantage of gas rewards. They look like the above image and can be obtained either online (links at end of wiki) or in-person (at the customer service counter).

• The cards currently on promotion are listed in the current weekly circular and usually change every week. VISA and MC from Metabank or US Bank for $20-$500 (plus $5.95 fee) work. For GCs, if it meets the previous requirements, the packaging (blue, silver, birthday cake, etc.) doesn't matter! Check the issuing bank on the back.

• S&S and Giant (DC, DE, MD, and VA) allow you to redeem up to 1500 points ($1.50/gal) per fuel purchase, and points expire 30 days after the qualifying purchase. With Giant PA, there is no limit to the number of points redeemed at one time.

• Points earned in one program cannot be used in another program.

• Your ID may be required when buying gift cards. Your name and other info may also be recorded for purchases over a discretionary dollar value. Whether you're buying a $100 card or a $5k stack, your experience will vary.

• You can view your account online using the link at the bottom of the wiki.

• It's best to purchase gift cards at the customer service counter, but reports state that a single $500 gift card can be paid for at any register without an issue. Purchases over $1k will require manager authorisation with a physical key, which may slow down the queue. You can go to the Solution Center to save time and make things easier for everyone.

• Giant Eagle and Giant Food are different chains with different ownership, and this thread is not relevant to the former.

• If you have more points in your account than are redeemed for a fuel purchase, then the remaining points will stay in your account until their respective expiration date(s). For example, if you have 2500 points and debit the 1500 ($1.50/gal) maximum, you will have 1000 points left. Similar behavior if gas is ever below $1.50/gal before discount.

• If you don't receive eligible points with your purchase due to system or human error, you can have them retroactively added by customer service (in-store or by phone). Have your receipt and a copy of the advert. It can take up to 24 hours for keyed points to appear in your account.

This is the same money manager that enlisted a random rule that I can only buy cards there once every "2-3 weeks" (I think she forgot it) but I've had issues occasionally in other stories. Today I really needed to split as I need to hit minimum spend.
All S&S stores near me enforce a daily limit of 2K. I recall someone once posted a sign in a S&S store indicated that as well. Some stores wouldn't even allow you to purchase $2000 because they counted the fees which will be over the 2K limit. So, YMMV, including I have heard S&S that allows 5K daily limit (unfortunately, not the case for the S&S near me)

I have another problem. 15006 points that were added yesterday, and showed up on my receipt, have been subtracted from my total on my latest receipt and on the webpage. The 4500 I just purchased are still there.

A. Did anybody else have this issue yesterday at Giant?
B. I know they can manually add points, can they subtract them? The 6 points were for a few groceries bought as well. I feel like that woman had it in for me.

I called in and they do see the missing points, but the woman was unwilling to add them until tomorrow because she didn't see my purchases from today and couldn't fix them.

I'm looking for a potential partner who has excessive Fuel Reward points I may purchase from. I purchased 6 vgc(s) which net me 9000 points, I shared the FR account with some friends and relatives who's eager to spend them down. I may be facing some shortfall now. some of you may have way more points beyond personal use. please txt me 6463292326 (best method) or PM. I'm in the stop&shop area.

This should mitigate some of your MS cost, I haven't really thought about the price yet, any suggestion welcome.

This worries me slightly as I don't want eyes on my FR account with a rather large balance of S&S and Giant points even though I haven't broken any rules. Hope nothing comes of this. Guess it's a curse of having gas attendants.
Yeah, I don't like the "extra eyes" involved in buying gas in NJ. And I certainly don't want to give them my phone number when I'm getting 3 bucks off. Yesterday, I was driving south from CT towards NJ and actually stopped in Westchester, NY to buy gas so I wouldn't have to do it in NJ. We're all trained to buy gas in NJ, but they've jacked up the gas tax so it's not so cheap there anymore, and obviously is best avoided if you can. FWIW, DE, MD and VA all now have gas as cheap as, or cheaper, than NJ. Of course, if you live in NJ, that doesn't help much!

I pump in NJ (work in NJ) nowadays since I only get the $1.50/gallon off since it's not that crazy. Reminds me of the one time back then when the MC deal stacked on so basically getting free gas. The gas attendant went crazy. Running around and screaming in disbelief to all the other drivers. It was really busy too, like cars lining up to pump (right after work). "THIS GUY IS GETTING FREE GAS" "WHAT A BOSS" "AN ENTIRE GAS TANK FOR NOT EVEN FIFTY CENTS". He then took a picture of the pump with the price. I was SO embarrassed. Never again in NJ when it's "Free".

has anyone had success "rolling" gift cards? i know it's not the best for cc rewards, but a decent way to get lots of gas points without worrying about liquidating so much. i always go to CS desk - any trouble splitting payment and covering fees with a cc?

I always thought it was nice having attendant until I started with the FR program. One time another worker yelled out "Why is that pump so slow?" because they look only at the Sales $ and not the gallons pumped.

I do not know how much you guys drive and how much gas you buy. I buy some GCs from S&S and I do not even bother with the fuel savings. Maybe I'm just crazy. To me, it is too much trouble. I'd rather spend more time with the CC rewards. I used to drive, not now.

I've been driving less lately, but a friend of mine drives for Uber full time, and even with a fairly efficient hybrid sedan burns through quite a lot of fuel. I usually 'donate' most of my points to him, and he saves $200-$300 every time these promos show up.

It makes sense now to some people. Cool.
