THIS IS A NEW THREAD FOR 2018. The previous thread is here.
***If you buy gift cards outside promotions, you will earn ZERO points.***

Giant MD and Stop & Shop's points now stack with Shell's Fuel Rewards. See more here.
[Expired] If you link a Mastercard to Fuel Rewards, you will earn an additional $0.15/gal for every $100 spent on anything at Giant/S&S with that card through the end of the year.

Accepted tender: Cash, credit, and debit. Also available are mobile/contactless payment (Apple Pay, etc.) and mobile loyalty (card barcode via app).

Summary
Stop & Shop (S&S), Giant Food Stores (Giant PA), and Giant Food (Giant MD) offer points for purchases which can be redeemed for a discount on the price paid per gallon on fuel sales at Shell and S&S/Giant fuel stations. $100* spend = 100 pts = 10c/gal discount. The particular rules vary between the three brands, and within Giant PA, the rules vary by location. Refer to the bottom of this wiki post for more information or links to official info from each brand.

Feel free to update this Wiki or suggest improvements. The goal is to help all of us spend less on gas!

Additional Information

• A loyalty card is required to take advantage of gas rewards. They look like the above image and can be obtained either online (links at end of wiki) or in-person (at the customer service counter).

• The cards currently on promotion are listed in the current weekly circular and usually change every week. VISA and MC from Metabank or US Bank for $20-$500 (plus $5.95 fee) work. For GCs, if it meets the previous requirements, the packaging (blue, silver, birthday cake, etc.) doesn't matter! Check the issuing bank on the back.

• S&S and Giant (DC, DE, MD, and VA) allow you to redeem up to 1500 points ($1.50/gal) per fuel purchase, and points expire 30 days after the qualifying purchase. With Giant PA, there is no limit to the number of points redeemed at one time.

• Points earned in one program cannot be used in another program.

• Your ID may be required when buying gift cards. Your name and other info may also be recorded for purchases over a discretionary dollar value. Whether you're buying a $100 card or a $5k stack, your experience will vary.

• You can view your account online using the link at the bottom of the wiki.

• It's best to purchase gift cards at the customer service counter, but reports state that a single $500 gift card can be paid for at any register without an issue. Purchases over $1k will require manager authorisation with a physical key, which may slow down the queue. You can go to the Solution Center to save time and make things easier for everyone.

• Giant Eagle and Giant Food are different chains with different ownership, and this thread is not relevant to the former.

• If you have more points in your account than are redeemed for a fuel purchase, then the remaining points will stay in your account until their respective expiration date(s). For example, if you have 2500 points and debit the 1500 ($1.50/gal) maximum, you will have 1000 points left. Similar behaviour if gas is ever below $1.50/gal before discount.

• If you don't receive eligible points with your purchase due to system or human error, you can have them retroactively added by customer service (in-store or by phone). Have your receipt and a copy of the advert. It can take up to 24 hours for keyed points to appear in your account.

you can double dip points, so $1.50 from giant and $1.50 from sns so your gas is free.

this only works with Giant MD/DE stores, not Giant PA. At Giant PA you can already get free gas if you have the points, there’s no $1.50 limit like SNS/GiantMD-DE

A few questions:

I'm fortunate to have easy access to Giant PA and Giant MD, but to now also frequently travel to S&S territory. Giant PA is easy because you can get your gas completely free. In such circumstances, Giant MD is only useful to me when I can double dip to get to $3.00 -- like when you combine Giant MD fuel points with S&S fuel points. Last spring, I got a separate S&S loyalty card and loaded that to my Shell Fuel Rewards account (where my Giant MD card was already registered). I recall buying GCs at both stores during a promo week and it worked perfectly to get to $3.00.

This week, I also bought GCs at both Giant MD and S&S with the appropriate cards. I went to S&S first. After I bought cards at Giant MD, I was surprised that my store receipt seemed to show a COMBINED total from both stores. Like I first earned 3000 points at S&S and then 3000 points at Giant MD, but my Giant MD receipt showed 6000 points. Is that normal? I thought the combined balance only showed up at Shell.

For folks who are finding "buddies" is the other territory, how are you actually doing business? If I'm in Giant MD territory, does my buddy get me a S&S card that I register to my Shell account and then he buys gift cards on that? And then do I do the reverse for him in MD?

My points show up combined on the receipt as well. Posted that a little over a week ago. I know when I signed up there is some "enable family sharing" option. Not sure if there is a connection because of that (digital coupons are often accessible/visible in all apps after adding in only one) or if it's because of the FR links. Would need to unlink giant from FR sometime and see what my S&S receipts say.

With your S&S account and Giant MD/VA account, it shows only the points you have at each store. Points not combined. At FR, the points are combined.

Does anyone know if FR Giant works in the Los Angeles or Las Vegas areas? I saw a couple of post for So CA but that was last year. And nothing for Vegas. Thanks.

you can check gas stations on the FR app. it will show the price you pay with whatever discount you have available. it may only reduce to .109 even though most go to .019 at the pump... also some areas indicate no discount but actually work

The app isn't always accurate. It shows the Shell down the street from me as full price but I get the full discount down to $.019 there. Actually now that I look almost all stations in west MD are reporting full price but that's definitely not the case in practice.

Go create an account on s&s or giant. Prob best to use a diff phone than what’s in ur FR. Share screen shots of bar code and phone number or just phone number. You can create any 10 digit number. Then just decide how much to buy for each other. When u register for s&s or giant it asks for FR account number to auto link.

You are basically correct. When I go to Giant MD's website, it shows that I've earned $3 off per gallon -- seemingly combining my Giant & S&S points -- but below that only lists my Giant MD points (and their expiration). Not sure why the store receipt shows a combined total. Of course, I don't really care about the weirdness of this accounting, as long as combining the points still works.

Aside from the app, I believe a good indicator that points won't work is if a Kroger-owned brand is one of the main players in an area. LA has Ralph's. Vegas has Smith's. Not sure you'll have any luck.

Fine print seems to indicate this will be a 2 week long run of this offer as well. If history repeats, first week or two of May will have the Mother's Day offer of either 4x points (Giant) or $15 off your next purchase when you buy $100 (S&S) on some select junk cards. Happy Lady could be included this year though, which would be acceptable for me.
