THIS IS A NEW THREAD FOR 2018. The previous thread is here.
***If you buy gift cards outside promotions, you will earn ZERO points.***

Giant MD and Stop & Shop's points now stack with Shell's Fuel Rewards. See more here.
[Expired] If you link a Mastercard to Fuel Rewards, you will earn an additional $0.15/gal for every $100 spent on anything at Giant/S&S with that card through the end of the year.

Accepted tender: Cash, credit, and debit. Also available are mobile/contactless payment (Apple Pay, etc.) and mobile loyalty (card barcode via app).

Summary
Stop & Shop (S&S), Giant Food Stores (Giant PA), and Giant Food (Giant MD) offer points for purchases which can be redeemed for a discount on the price paid per gallon on fuel sales at Shell and S&S/Giant fuel stations. $100* spend = 100 pts = 10c/gal discount. The particular rules vary between the three brands, and within Giant PA, the rules vary by location. Refer to the bottom of this wiki post for more information or links to official info from each brand.

You can earn gas points from both regular grocery shopping and gift card purchases (promotion only).

Feel free to update this Wiki or suggest improvements. The goal is to help all of us spend less on gas!

Additional Information

• A loyalty card is required to take advantage of gas rewards. They look like the above image and can be obtained either online (links at end of wiki) or in-person (at the customer service counter).

• The cards currently on promotion are listed in the current weekly circular and usually change every week. VISA and MC from Metabank or US Bank for $20-$500 (plus $5.95 fee) work. For GCs, if it meets the previous requirements, the packaging (blue, silver, birthday cake, etc.) doesn't matter! Check the issuing bank on the back.

• S&S and Giant (DC, DE, MD, and VA) allow you to redeem up to 1500 points ($1.50/gal) per fuel purchase, and points expire 30 days after the qualifying purchase. With Giant PA, there is no limit to the number of points redeemed at one time.

• Points earned in one program cannot be used in another program.

• Your ID may be required when buying gift cards. Your name and other info may also be recorded for purchases over a discretionary dollar value. Whether you're buying a $100 card or a $5k stack, your experience will vary.

• You can view your account online using the link at the bottom of the wiki.

• It's best to purchase gift cards at the customer service counter, but reports state that a single $500 gift card can be paid for at any register without an issue. Purchases over $1k will require manager authorisation with a physical key, which may slow down the queue. You can go to the Solution Center to save time and make things easier for everyone.

• Giant Eagle and Giant Food are different chains with different ownership, and this thread is not relevant to the former.

• If you have more points in your account than are redeemed for a fuel purchase, then the remaining points will stay in your account until their respective expiration date(s). For example, if you have 2500 points and debit the 1500 ($1.50/gal) maximum, you will have 1000 points left. Similar behavior if gas is ever below $1.50/gal before discount.

• If you don't receive eligible points with your purchase due to system or human error, you can have them retroactively added by customer service (in-store or by phone). Have your receipt and a copy of the advert. It can take up to 24 hours for keyed points to appear in your account.

Has anyone had success extending the 30 days expiration period, is it flexible or written in stone?

Use the FuelRewards app and search via current location. You can move the map around the country and research. If you see the gas price go down to $.x0 then it should work at that location.

i can personally verify that in Ca it works are far South as Monterrey. The app confirms this.

Yeah, I discussed the value of the FR location finder up-thread a bit. It's very useful if you're travelling around the country and want to know if your Giant/Stop&Shop points will work. There's no rhyme or reason to where they work; you've just got to search. My worst luck was in Charlottesville, VA, where there is actually a Giant store!

FWIW, my fallback "cheap gas" option when FR won't work is using my deeply-discounted Sam's Club gift cards (you might also have a few from the various AMEX Offers promos). These work at Walmart-affiliated gas stations, and even take a few cents off the posted pump prices. I use the Walmart finder (select gas station) to locate these. One weird wrinkle is that a lot of Walmart gas stations are operated by the Murphy chain. But make sure it's a Murphy USA station and not a Murphy Express if you want to use your Sam's Club/Walmart gift card.

We're all trained to buy gas in NJ, but they've jacked up the gas tax so it's not so cheap there anymore, and obviously is best avoided if you can. FWIW, DE, MD and VA all now have gas as cheap as, or cheaper, than NJ. Of course, if you live in NJ, that doesn't help much!
just enter ur phone number iin JN. No need to give it to anyone.

Unfortunately not at my local S&S. We have a whale that moved in a couple months back that buys $15K a day in VGCs and MCGCs. He comes with his wife and a person I believe is his brother every morning and gets $5K each. I"ve seen them liquidating at the WMs in the area too. Many days I go in and there are no variable load cards left. One of the girls at the solution center told me they are up to $280K in the last two months and that the managers are considering not selling him anymore because of fraud/ML risks. From the couple times I've seen him solo at S&S he seems to use an Amex Delta card and a WF Cash Wise card. Not sure if he's using other more lucrative cards or not, but at that volume he'd max out any decent grocery store bonus card in less than a month.

This is just insane. This is just a new S&S I happen to pass by. I've not checked the one close to me.

I think it is easier to buy GCs. But most of WMs have daily limits.

The Amex Delta card and a WF Cash Wise card are not even good cards. If you take away the 1.2% fee, not much left.

I agree, but with the volume they tell me he's pushing I'm guessing he's using other cards as well that I haven't seen. I would have to cycle my CL on my highest CL card at least three times a month to do that kind of volume. I can't imagine he would not get shut down doing that much in such a small time frame on only two cards.
