So if we assume only 6pts / $ spent on HH CC, then $90k gets atleast 540k hh points which if valued at .50 cents would come to $2700. Usually the points received maybe more too. So basically spending $900 cash to get benefits of $2700..
But whats manner can we safely liquidate $90k in GC's ?

Diamond status is good but not great at Hilton, limited upgrades in the last year. But free breakfast and the additional earning rate is nice. The big thing for me is that it allows me to match into other programs in the travel world - so there are some additional fringe benefits there.
So spending $1K for status, a boatload of points, free night cert, and other fringe bennies is worth it for me.

The liquidation is not hard. 5 VGC's into MO's per week. Plenty of local stores to rotate through. Bank ATM eats them up like clockwork.

MO's at several stores in the area. I have my routine.
The free night I can squeak out $200-$250 in value from based on my needs and experience using it.

That is the math I operate on. I am stocking up on points for multiple stays on a long vacation. Essentially getting stays at 60-70% discount when compared to the cash rate.

I have got an impression that banks/ CU's frown upon lots of MO deposits and hence have avoided doing that and this restricts my activities and I can usually use MO's only for valid payments (rents etc). But there are possible some banks CU's which will be more MO friendly than others and only that I have not explored in my area.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, if the VGC liquidation option is sorted out and you are able to get rooms giving you high value for your miles, it seems worth it.

Recently it has been a mixed bag. Some cashiers don't blink at $3-4k, others limit to $2K. I personally have not heard of 1k and SSN check? That seems a bit above and beyond for $afeway.
Actually ran into their corp compliance manager in a store and she shared the limit is $2k for GC per transaction. This was 2-3 weeks ago. But I don't know how aggressively that is enforced by cashiers and managers.

Check your J4U account. The long-predicted $15-off-$200-VGCs have finally arrived, if anyone is interested.

Safeway in Northern California appears to be pulling $500 USB GCs. These are the pre-"Issued by Blackhawk" variant.
bought 3x across 2 stores. each time, the Activation receipt stated "Unable To Process"; yet the charge went through and my CC was charged the full amount.
