All around here are $2k except for 2 stores that will go up to $3k. Never had any reason to appeal to corporate. If I need more, I just go to a second store.

Usually do 3-4K at a time, never bumped into an advertised limit.

Got excited one day after a 3K purchase and some discussion about using a CC with the clerk, the manager said "we can sell you up to 10K in 1 transaction" - have yet to go back and try that store for that amount.

You may consider that crazy. For me and many others who scaled this hobby its just another day. I'm always polite, answer any questions, and don't push any matters. There are dozens upon dozens of $500 GC's on the rack, and I leave behind many more than I buy.

The bottom line is I buy a product, for which I pay in full at the time of purchase, nor returns, no chargebacks, no funny business. So what's crazy???

I don't do MS, but I use gift cards for gas purchases so I get the lower price. Sometimes, I have to go in the c-store to get a gift card to use at the pump. Ridiculous extra step, but that is the game.

I am told now that gift cards purchased at the c-store (which for Vons/Safeway codes as groceries) can only be $50 per card in value. I do believe someone was buying large amounts of variable gift cards at the c-store to avoid going in the main grocery store. And in my region, $50 doesn't cover a fill-up.

Doing volume like this will lead to some scrutiny, its just not normal to be buying 10k worth of gcs

The "Happy" GCs are on J4U for 10-15% off depending on variety. Are these MS-able?

This is the company-wide policy that I was able to dig up.

$0-1999 - allowed
$2000-2999 - requires valid ID and store management approval
$3000+ - will only be sold at the service desk and requires a customer information form.
Limit of $9999 including fees per customer per day

Forms of payment accepted: Cash, Corporate Charge, Debit, EBT Cash, Mobile Pay
Credit cards must have a chip and must process with the chip. Swiped or key entered cards are not allowed.
Personal Checks are accepted for store gift cards only.
Gift cards may not be purchased with another gift card.

Gift card purchases are at the discretion of store management and can be refused for any reason.

No CC for VGC

My Safeway no longer allows credit card for VGC purchases. Up to $200 with a debit card and $2000 with cash. Just implemented within the last week.

Probably a high fraud rate store that warranted this policy in that store only (either that or checkout management at that store is confused). I haven't seen a company-wide policy like this yet.

It is not hard coded by the register, although I'd have to take a look at a store with the new software update that's rolling out right now to be certain.

Bought $4k at my local safeway last week without any issue. CC and ID, the gal that works the early shift knows me and my purchase patterns. Non issue as far as I am concerned.

Bau here too, cc&Id. Frankly I like that better, blocks some scammers and makes it more sustainable in the long run for us honest folks.
