Ya you won't get much value out of it if you have just 1 account. I assume everyone doing VGC/MCGC deals has hundreds if not thousands so they probably also have this deal on tons of accounts. The main issue I'm running into is cardstock. They don't carry as much AMZN as they do variable vgc/mcgc so I've about wiped out all my nearby stores in the last 3 days and they said they don't have any inside the rack or in the back office.

I wish... My hit rate on this offer was under 2% and it didn't seem random -- Only accounts with regular and significant non-GC spend were targeted. Perhaps it was also location dependent?

I have been using my Freedom to buy Safeway gift cards from PayPal Digital Gifts, earning 5X this quarter, and using the GC to buy the Amazon cards for the 6X fuel rewards.

Today, I got a little pushback from my favorite cashier, who told me that the whole staff was warned not to accept gift cards for gift cards.

That has always been the policy although the POS doesn't enforce this. The store is supposed to enforce it as allowing the transaction violates the contract with Blackhawk Network, who wants to prevent money laundering. Both Safeway gift cards and the cards you're trying to buy are issued by Blackhawk Network, so BHN gets to double dip on commissions if they let you use a gift card to purchase a gift card.

No, since it's proprietary.

I don't think Safeway GC is issued by BHN.

My Safeway digital gift card, purchased from PayPal Digital Gifts, includes the following fine print:

Worth noting: these are the exact same cards that had all the problems recently (funds drained but transaction declined).
See separate thread:
Issue With Mastercard Giftcards (Purchase Not Authorized and Funds Drained)

Proceed with caution with these.
