Visa Card Policy

American Express Card Policy

Summary of Supported Payments by Card Brand
https://support.plastiq.com/s/article/supported-payments-by-card-brand

Official word from Plastiq regarding Visa Business cards that was asked which was previously thought it applied to only Visa Personal cards
Plastiq is unable to support mortgage payments on any Visa credit cards. This is an industry-wide mandate that affects all third-party bill payment services. Please note that mortgage payments are also unsupported for credit cards issued by U.S. Bank or Capital One and AMEX.

Plastiq Fees:
Standard Plastiq card payment processing fee is 2.9%. This puts most of the credit cards out of the reward range. Plastiq turns itself into a niche position to earn new card bonus or status threshold. Some CCs may still work.
It makes most of the reward programs not profitable. Use Plastiq to meet welcome bonus spending requirement or to meet certain spend requirements to reach elite status or for large spend bonus. Also take advantage of Plastiq referrals and promotions.

Delivery Fees (The Plastiq Ch. 11 restructure now added some delivery fees):
ACH/EFT/Electronic $0.99
Paper Check $1.49
Wire Transfer: Domestic/International $8.99/$39

This is the thread for 2018 and forward. The previous discussion can be found here.
Updated Nov-2018: A lot of the personal Visa CCs can't be used at Plastiq. Some will be treated as cash advance and won't receive any rewards. Only Capital One personal Visa CCs are not affected. Business Visa CCs are still good. The best CCs are Mastercard and Discover. AmEx CCs can still be used, but not on many of the payment types. Chase personal Visa cards are limited to the cash advance limit (typically 20% of CL). The details are listed as below:

Plastiq Referrals:
Standard Referral: When you refer your friend to Plastiq, after your friend charges $500 or more, your friend will get $500 ($0?) FFDs (fee free dollar) and you'll receive $1,000 ($100) FFDs to spend.

All personal prepaid Gift Cards (GCs) are disallowed. Not sure what "business" gift card can be used.

Successful Credit Cards Used (Posted as Purchase, Visa info outdated)

To save money?

Most people aren't like us and will pack in multiple transactions per day, every day for three straight months.

Because the limit is in the advertising, but the ability to do multiple payments isn't. Just because it's common knowledge for people reading thread on FT doesn't mean it's common knowledge for everyone using Plastiq.

So if you use it a lot yourself, quietly, it may continue to work, but if too many blogs out there mention it, it may get shut down. (There are so many things out there that got shut down in recent years apparently because too many blogs mentioned it.)

Ok so how do I make my mortgage payment with master pass if the payment is over $250? Do I schedule a bunch of $250 payments to equal the amount of the mortgage to arrive the same day at the bank? My bank is Navy FCU. Thank you!

That's exactly how it is done. However, depending on your bank's policies, you may need to contact them to ensure they treat them as partial payments and not principal pay-down.

Data Point on CIP Plastiq x3 for a roof contractor?

$10,000 credit limit. Was going to send a $2000 'test' check via Chase Ink Preferred. Do you think it will get x3? It IS for a rental property, but dont think they would know that. Plastiq answer: Paul: it appears you are referring to the Merchant Category Code or MCC. The MCC is set by our processor, not by Plastiq directly, and can change and vary based on the payment being made and the card type being used. Our processor also makes adjustments from time to time.

Based on a few < 1 mth age posts, it seems that it should work, but sounds like you should be your own data point.

I did a payment today to take advantage of the masterpass promo with a MC not listed in wiki to see if it posts as a purchase myself.

Edit: BofA Business Advantage Travel Rewards MC posted as purchase; added to Wiki.

I am guessing that Plastiq will send a check to the supplier/vendor/payee. Would/could Plastiq mail the check to me but address the payment to supplier/vendor/payee? I want to be able to hand the check to said individual personally.

Based on at least one comment on the latest reddit AMA w/ Plastiq's CEO (google it), it would seem like that is what some are doing. Their chat support is fairly attentive/responsive, can't hurt to ask.

Can you change the MasterCard with another MasterCard (both enrolled in Masterpass) without actually editing the payment?

I have NFCU, as well. If the checks are received the same day, they should credit it as a single payment. I put a note on the memo line to combine multiple checks into a single payment. If one is missing or delayed, they usually put the rest in a suspense account, waiting for final amount to make payment. I monitored my first payment around delivery day and 5/6 checks were received. After the 6th posted as a principal only payment, I called to get it sorted out. Second payment worked as it should. Just pay attention to your loan activity and call as soon as you can if it doesn't post right.

I am not sure I understand, but if you edit the payment and change the masterpass mastercard, the CURRENT promo will be applied. I have been hitting CL and updating mastercards on several payments without issue.

Or you may want to do a $250 payment, a $249 payment, a $248 payment, etc, so that if only some of the payments show as credited at a given time you can know which ones they were. If they're all identical, you may have problems in such a case.

Plus don't trust Plastiq's estimates of when they'll arrive. Make sure you give some extra buffer.

Any update or progress on this?

Looking to use the CIP to pay Chase Auto for my car payment. Will this trigger the 3x?

Thanks
