Summary of Supported Payments by Card Brand
https://support.plastiq.com/s/article/supported-payments-by-card-brand

Official word from Plastiq regarding Visa Business cards that was asked which was previously thought it applied to only Visa Personal cards
Plastiq is unable to support mortgage payments on any Visa credit cards. This is an industry-wide mandate that affects all third-party bill payment services. Please note that mortgage payments are also unsupported for credit cards issued by U.S. Bank or Capital One and AMEX.

Plastiq Fees:
Standard Plastiq card payment processing fee is 2.9%. This puts most of the credit cards out of the reward range. Plastiq turns itself into a niche position to earn new card bonus or status threshold. Some CCs may still work.
It makes most of the reward programs not profitable. Use Plastiq to meet welcome bonus spending requirement or to meet certain spend requirements to reach elite status or for large spend bonus. Also take advantage of Plastiq referrals and promotions.

Delivery Fees (The Plastiq Ch. 11 restructure now added some delivery fees):
ACH/EFT/Electronic $0.99
Paper Check $1.49
Wire Transfer: Domestic/International $8.99/$39

This is the thread for 2018 and forward. The previous discussion can be found here.
Updated Nov-2018: A lot of the personal Visa CCs can't be used at Plastiq. Some will be treated as cash advance and won't receive any rewards. Only Capital One personal Visa CCs are not affected. Business Visa CCs are still good. The best CCs are Mastercard and Discover. AmEx CCs can still be used, but not on many of the payment types. Chase personal Visa cards are limited to the cash advance limit (typically 20% of CL). The details are listed as below:

Plastiq Referrals:
Standard Referral: When you refer your friend to Plastiq, after your friend charges $500 or more, your friend will get $500 ($0?) FFDs (fee free dollar) and you'll receive $1,000 ($100) FFDs to spend.

All personal prepaid Gift Cards (GCs) are disallowed. Not sure what "business" gift card can be used.

anything in the 4 digit is my guess. My experience was they asked for info on the payment since it was treated a new business not on their platform and paying a large amount. Once I sent the doc, they would only allow MC or Discover for the payment. You could try to break it in smaller payments- no guarantee though. From what i saw they review every payment irrespective of if they are on the platform or not (more so when paying with Visa or Amex).
Due to notice from Amex /Visa to plastiq to not allow certain payments, they are much scrutinized.

Edit: I too sent a small payment first which went thru without issue. The next one was a big amount and it was reviewed.

Interesting, thanks for the info. I guess I'll try 3 digit payments every week or so and start with CIP since that's the priority. $5000 over 3 months is about 400 a week. Wish me luck!

Plastiq caught my manual entry for $100 for student loans on Amex and wants documentation. I guess that idea is dead already. Their TOS still say Visa is only unable to complete mortgage payments. Have their been DP's to suggest CIP won't go over well for $5k of student loans?

Even insurance payments code as 3X. To me, it looks like anything plastiq codes as 3X with CIP. I have tried Loan, Rent, Insurance, Electric Bill and all worked.

Do we know which kinds of payments Amex does not want to allow (and which it still may allow)?

According to Plastiq TOS:

American Express cards are permitted for the following industries:
  • Government
  • Utilities
  • Education
  • Residential Rent
  • Club Fees & Memberships

To be more specific, they told me Education for Amex does not include student loan payments, only tuition payments qualify.

Why do you say Visa is under scrutiny, sbalasu3? Currently they are only restricting mortgage payments, according to TOS. Are there DP's suggesting otherwise?

No idea. For me Mortgage /Loan didn't work. I am giving up on plastiq. Not worth their hassle . If you want to meet the MSR, you could open the BMO harris bank account and fund with Amex upto $3000 (Checking, Savings, Money Market-each $1K). You could repeat it after 30 days for another 3K.

This chart helps.

Thanks, I've seen this chart. Student Loans aren't explicitly covered, but so far a small $10 payment on CSR (visa) has gotten through. I'm crossing my fingers for the rest.

So can someone correct me if I’m wrong but from what I am gathering for here the CIP (Chase Ink Preferred) is currently coding all Plastiq transactions as 3x points. So if I make my auto payments it should code?

Confirmed. I recently did it and it looks like this as pending:

Pending Rewards
+ 2 Points per $1 on trvl, ship, adv, telecom
+ 1 Point per $1 earned on all purchases

Same here, 3x, and I was paying back student loans. My question is, what part of travel, shipping, advertising, or telecommunications is Plastiq?? Not complaining
