Is my plastiq math correct?
 

I couldn't find a post that calculated this so wanted to just see what all you think here...

If I make a payment using plastiq for $10,000 - I'll pay $250 fee. Using Chase unlimited I will earn 15,000 points. So I'm buying UR points for 1.66 cent each.

I know TPG values those at 2.1 but that seems high. So even if it is at 1.8 - I am still ahead no?

Or is it too close to really quantify?

Math is correct, but I personally think you'd have to be crazy to pay that much for a UR.

At what price you think it is worth it? if it was 2% fee?

Technically it's 1.63 cents per point since you also earn points on the fee. ($200 divided by 15,375 points).

It's hard to justify Plastiq at a 2.5% or even 2% fee on the freedom unlimited.
I personally use the DL Amex to pay my rent to help me get airline status, but even then I'm probably just breaking even.

If you buy 2 5.95 GCs with an FU and buy a 1.60 MO at USPS... you are paying just < 0.009... so I'd look to do better than that.

I'd only use plastiq for minimum spends, or yearly spends on status that you would actually use.

even with 3x points on Citi AT&T access card, i don't think Plastiq is worth the 2.5% fee....paying $25 to earn 3k TYpoints doesn't seem worth it for me....

$25 for at Minimum $30 worth of points, my math counts + >= $5.

i never redeemed TY points for a statement credit.....is each point worth 1c for statement credit? Are there any restrictions?

apart from statement credit i have very limited use of TYP

They are only worth .5 cents when redeemed for a statement credit. You can cash them out as gift cards for 1 cent per point. You could use or sell the gift card if you have no use for gift card.
