State of play at Publix?

brain freeze & cant search right now: does Publix sell $500 cards, for CCs? Thanks.

Nope. If I remember correctly the highest denomination they carry is $100.

Publix won't sell over $50 of gift cards with a credit card in a single transaction... pretty much useless other than for people who are buying a gift card as an actual gift (and not very big gifts at that)...

Publix can be good for buying MOs though.

Thanks, everyone.

I was in South Beach, and in the same Publix, one time I was able to buy 5 $400 MOs with $200 VGC, and the next night, the CSR wanted to see the "debit" card I was using, and didn't allow me to purchase MOs.

It really varies whether cashiers or stores will allow it and South Florida is probably harder because there is more fraud down there.

I live in the NY metropolitan area. Trying to buy money orders in regular grocery stores is very, very hard. I have to wait to go to New Jersey (or Florida) to buy MOs, when using VGC that meta or sunnies.

Anyone ever deposit money orders in the Publix ATM's? Do they read either MG or WU? A few of the CU's I use the Publix ATM's in their network. Figure it might be an easy way to deposit in money orders.

Amazing how a "few miles" can mean a difference in policy. Ive got numerous stores that still work a few hours north.

Might as well. My local Publix ATM does not even accept deposits.
