This is the master thread for all VGC and MCGC sold at Staples.
The previous discussion can be found here.

The VGCs sold at Staples are issued by Metabank and serviced by Blackhawk Network.
The activation code for online purchase comes with the card. Cards purchased at store are activated at check-out.
To activate cards over the phone (without activation codes), call (877) 426-2551 to talk to a rep.
To activate cards over the web, www.giftcardkey.com.
The default PIN number is the last four digits of the card number but can be changed online.

As of 5/12/2014, all known portals are dead.

Earn 5x points with Chase Ink, or Simply Cash for 5% cash back
Buy Visa gift cards (Metabank) at Staples ($200 for $7.95) or the website ($300 for $8.95).

2k Limit per transaction / 10k per day for online. In-store is usually 2k but YMMV
Often times, there are promotions with no or reduced activation fees

I get AUs on my Plat and Gold. Sometimes I get same AmEx offers on master card and AU cards. I treat all AU cards as separate cards and used the AU cards. Never any problem.
The problem was that 1 cardholder would use the multitab method to pull up the Staples offer on their SCP, their Plat, their biz Plat, their gold, their bcp, etc. Effectively pulling $500+ of credits. Using the credit 1 time and then your AU'S using the offer on their cards was never an issue.

So the clawbacks occur when a single individual earns 10% back across multiple cards? They are tracking by SSN, regardless of the number of Amex cards held/enrolled?

Can you explain the nature of your clawbacks real quick for the benefit of others?

So if you didn't have any AUs, you had the offer on different cards?

Correct. Not sure what the best way is to get the money back yet, guess I'll have to read up on others' experiences

Yes, that seems to be what they are doing.

I have only been flagged on my first purchase and never again (on each card). I have done 3 $1,800 purchases in one day. I have only done maybe 3 visits in a week, so just over 16k in a week. I do max out 2 ink cards each year on bonus categories with no issue. Just got a third one this year. I do have a lot of spend (100+k) on non ink cards, maybe that helps but don't know.

I have multiple AU with individual SS# on one business account. Do the "revised" T&C say one rebate per business account or can I get away with one rebate per individual SS# AU under the same account?

Not at the 3 I hit thus far

You could have simply walked up with x and watch the screen like a hawk like I did and once the 2nd went thru w/o a fee just keep doing them. If a fee hit then since it wasnt activated yet I believe you could simply ask them to remove the 2nd one and return the rest back to the shelf. the last time they ran this and I didnt jump ASAP many locations were bone dry
