This is the master thread for all VGC and MCGC sold at Staples.
The previous discussion can be found here.

The VGCs sold at Staples are issued by Metabank and serviced by Blackhawk Network.
The activation code for online purchase comes with the card. Cards purchased at store are activated at check-out.
To activate cards over the phone (without activation codes), call (877) 426-2551 to talk to a rep.
To activate cards over the web, www.giftcardkey.com.
The default PIN number is the last four digits of the card number but can be changed online.

As of 5/12/2014, all known portals are dead.

Earn 5x points with Chase Ink, or Simply Cash for 5% cash back
Buy Visa gift cards (Metabank) at Staples ($200 for $7.95) or the website ($300 for $8.95).

2k Limit per transaction / 10k per day for online. In-store is usually 2k but YMMV
Often times, there are promotions with no or reduced activation fees

As long as both items are listed in your submission, you should be good to go. BTW, that Echo rebate is a good deal.

This was posted at Doctor of Credit today in the comments section:

Previous VISA or MASTERCARD deals showed words “$300 or more”, e.g.:
Get a $15 Staples Easy Rebates Gift Card on a Purchase of $300 or more of MasterCard Gift Cards (SKUs 763603, 192695, 763608, 763455, 725725) at Staples Stores ONLY

But this time, only $300, no “or more”, so I’m afraid you end up with $200+$100 AGC."

I followed this advice and got $300 instead of the usual $400. Rebate printed off with no problems.

I'm having a devil of a time liquidating the Amex GC. In the past, I used to do sunnies at wally world, but somehow amex seems to be blocking that. So, first time that happened, I unloaded at hyvee for some $500 meta visa gc with no issues, but now amex appears to be blocking them too. Anyone else have advice to unload them? I have no CVS, but do have Sams and Walgreens.

I use my agc's on Kiva. Payback on liquidation takes months but you can do it at home.

Why? It always had worked in the past. Not to mention, it is easy to float the investment since one per household.

My two rebates from the "fake" rebate week arrived today. One was a $20 VGC, and the other was a $20 postcard check.

I received 4 out of my 5 from the fake rebate week. Never called on the 5th rejection because of all the drama involved in the 1st 4. Glad that's over.....

I (finally) called the 877 number today. Called 3 separate times for 3 rebates. I spoke with the same agent for the 1st and 3rd calls and he simply took all the information from the receipt (SKU, rebate #, promo #) along with the name/address for the promotion. He verified over the phone that I would get the $20 VGC rebate within 4-6 weeks.

The 2nd time I called I got a different rep who made me give him all the info, then he told me to email all the same info to [email protected] along with a photo of the receipt.

Overall fairly painless, maybe 6-8 minutes per call.

Thanks to others who posted info with phone #s and email addresses.

Indeed, you are correct, just noticed that when submitting my rebate. The sign in the store (and the weekly flyer) said a Staples Gift Card, so will wait and see what they send out.
