This is the master thread for all VGC and MCGC sold at Staples.
The previous discussion can be found here.
The VGCs sold at Staples are issued by Metabank and serviced by Blackhawk Network.
The activation code for online purchase comes with the card. Cards purchased at store are activated at check-out.
To activate cards over the phone (without activation codes), call (877) 426-2551 to talk to a rep.
To activate cards over the web, www.giftcardkey.com.
The default PIN number is the last four digits of the card number but can be changed online.
As of 5/12/2014, all known portals are dead.
Earn 5x points with Chase Ink, or Simply Cash for 5% cash back
Buy Visa gift cards (Metabank) at Staples ($200 for $7.95) or the website ($300 for $8.95).
2k Limit per transaction / 10k per day for online. In-store is usually 2k but YMMV
Often times, there are promotions with no or reduced activation fees

What is the point of doing this? Just because some of us can buy 10 cards and you can only buy one?
I actually skipped some days since I do not like VGC that much. I have not found a good way to dump those GCs. Still prefer to have those $500 GCs. Even the $200 MCGC is better.

PS. IMHO, the current Dosh daily bonus offsets any inconvenience of $200 vs $500 denomination. You can obviously liquidate through same channels, will just require some extra effort.

My AUs are people with uniques SSNs, not fictional characters or variations of my name. I have not experienced clawbacks from Staples or Lowe's when we all got credits for our purchases.

When the offer is per account, then even the AU has own log in and receives the offer, even the credit posted, AMEX then would crawl back, often months later.
The big difference, AU does not have his own account, the account belongs to the Primary cardholder - when the offer is per account, then only one credit could be earned.
Sometimes the RAT manual reviews would confuse the above 2 and erroneously crawl back credits on "per person" offers - in such cases, it is possible to get the crawl back reversed. At least that was own experiences on last year's crawl back on Lowes and Staples. A supervisor reviewed it based on the offer term and how the offer was earned. She concluded RAT made error. The crawl back was contested as a dispute filed by her on my behalf, then the crawl back was reversed a few weeks later.
Yes, there is no trick. The condition of the offer makes the difference but most people dont pay attention on the words of the offer terms.

The point: If I can't buy any at all because a non-enforcing store is OOS, I am going to complain.

Starting Sunday (from 7/21 through 7/27), Staples will waive the purchase fee on $200 MasterCard GCs.
(This will stack nicely with two sync offers you might find on your Amex cards.). The usual restrictions apply (see page 5 of weekly ad).

and if it was online as well it wouldnt be worth it since Im positive it would be limit of 1 enforced
edb55 the nowadays problem is being able to find a store that will sell you more then 1 per day, it used to be easy pessy to get 10 at a clip, now most stores will limit you to just 1 per day not per transaction which for most makes going after these no worth the time and effort, but its YMMV issue since some stores will sell you 10 in 1 transaction but thats like looking for a needle in a haystack, they are there but far and few

I am new to this city I live in now and had a store that sold me 10 cards on the fee free special two separate times. Not so easy now and the five locations in the city are all spread out by around 25-30 minutes with traffic. This makes it not worth going for one a single card. I have been doing the OD/OM specials on visa gift cards while still owning the old Chase Ink Business card of which I will never let go. Between buying the discounted visa cards and the 5oo Amazon cards for my amazon spending, I do well. I am lucky enough to have an outlet for money orders but limit to 2k daily. Currently generating MR points as I have a huge stash of Chase. I see that Ebates is currently offering 4x at staples (Alaska and American shopping portals the same) so I bought a couple of the 300 visa cards so with my MR ebates account the points will be a little of 1/2 cents each since I'm using a MR amex card to do the purchase.

I will, however, take whatever they give me. Dosh is pretty much useless for anything else.
