The VGCs sold at Staples are issued by Metabank. The activation code for online purchase comes with the card. Cards purchased at store are activated at check-out.
To activate cards over the phone (without activation codes), call (877) 426-2551 to talk to a rep.
To activate cards over the web, www.giftcardkey.com.
The default PIN number is the last four digits of the card number but can be changed online.

The max VGCs sold at Staples.com are $300. No $500 cards. With its $8.95 or 3% card fee, it is only good if there is promotion (or rebate).

As of 5/12/2014, all known portals are dead.

Earn 5x points with Chase Ink, or Simply Cash for 5% cash back

Buy Visa gift cards (Metabank) at Staples ($200 for $6.95) or the website ($300 for $8.95).

2k Limit per transaction / 10k per day for online. In-store is usually 2k but YMMV

Often times, there are promotions with no or reduced activation fees

Staples seems to have stopped their GC promotions and many of us business owners haven't made a purchase in-store since then. I would usually buy products when I went into the store for these promotions. The promotions worked to get customers like me into the stores and we would buy other things too. I shop where I can also get GC deals. I also pulled all pharmacy/retail purchases from chains that no longer allow VGC to be bought with CC. Seems like in their effort to avoid problems they drive good customers to large online marketplaces. Their choice leads to my choice. Although I have seen some stores bring back good sales and allow cc purchases after a hiatus which seem to get rid of problem customers/limit fraud.

I bet their computers showed them that 99.999% of the GC sales were just that only GCs. So yes you maybe part of the .001% that made other purchases but from my times there its a rarity as most folks getting the GCs were getting just that and nothing more

Maybe it's locale that matters too. We have a lot of businesses in my area, so I see more customers like me. But, you're right, I'm not a majority. Although the minority like business customers spend a lot in office supplies and they make their profit in that.

Staples website has $100 Mastercard for 101.95 (limit 3)

https://www.staples.com/mastercard-1...roduct_2473138

101.95 x 3 = 305.85

305.85 - 10% Amex biz offer (30.59) = 275.26 - 5% Amex SimplyCash cash back = 261.50

FYI: The limit is not 3 cards. However, only the first three will get the $5 discount; the rest will be regular price.

Limit 1 per customer, but last time it was not enforced.
Still 1.95 out-of-pocket...

Is this common with Staples visa orders? Should I be worried? Any advice?
Did they ever arrive? I have received no orders from July 9th on. They should have been here by now. No cards, no activation letters. Email show delivery dates of July 28 and on.

a $10 off, similar to the OD's for this wk, would have been better; also, it's a mcgc not vgc... harder to liquidate
