GREAT! I'm going to wait until the end of the month to see what truly happens. I'm glad to hear that your transaction was successful.

Just paid rent, Canadian Amex minimum spend met!

And noticed a "cross boarder fee" that pushed the normal 2.5% fee up to 3.0%. Has this been going on for some time? Have always used US-issued cards and never noticed...

Just tried to pay Chase Mortgage using my Amex, and it was not allowed. This "fix" is useless for me. All my other bills I can pay the companies directly without fees or with very small fees.

If you want to solve the problem you're having you could just sell your house and start renting. Amex is now working to make rent payments again.

The whole mortgage thing is crazy. I have read that it really depends on the mortgage institution that is being used. For example, I am using Nationstar (now Mr Cooper) and have been able to use Amex for my mortgage. Now, for how long that continues is another matter but I was still able to process yesterday.

I can solve this problem by using other cards (for now ).

I think the issue (or good thing) here is that it depends on Plastiq to determine which payments should be considered to be mortgage payments. So, if Plastiq is not aware or is not sure about your bank, it will allow it. For large banks (Chase, Citi, etc), it is a no go.
