I spaced the payments out by at least 10 days - 2 weeks and each processed as the regular payment as instructed.
Now, if I had just sent them one check for 12K then the extra beyond the normal 3K payment would have all just gone to the principal.

Correct. What I did, was separate transactions with instructions in the Notes line: Regular June 2017 Payment, Regular July 2017 Payment, etc.

Over payments
Lucky your company let you do that..... Seems from what i have read any additional amounts in a month counts towards principal.... Plus Lucky they listened to your instructions otherwise would have been a headache to unravel....
Congrats and good 36k pts run!

My first two payments were standalone, and then the third was using the discount code. I plan on SM'ing the rep to change the note in a few weeks in the hopes that they will be able to change the month.

Wells has always been pretty flexible with the payment allocation. I am paid every two weeks so I routinely make extra payments to principle. When I changed jobs last year I didn't want the extra payment to go to principle only, but to be treated as next month's regular payment so I checked online and found that if you waited until the loan 'reset' (for lack of a better term) from one payment, I would be able to pay the next month's payment early. I took a shot that they would do the same with the physical check from Plastiq and it has worked well (so far!).

I've prepaid on Flagstar as well, and a quick phone call to have them allocate the extra funds to future months.

My sister signed up relatively recently and said that when she tried to pay her mortgage one time last week, Plastiq offered first month free if 6 months were scheduled. My account already got the first month free (4 more months to pay), but I can sign up another family member if that 1st month free offer is still around. If I sign up my wife, I wonder if I can cancel my schedule and use her account to pay our mortgage and get 1st month free? Or perhaps this will raise eyebrows over at Plastiq...

My datapoint from October is out of date. Plastiq sends funds to Citi Mortgage electronically now and is MUCH faster. My latest data point is:

Payment posted by CitiMortgage: May 4, 2017

I've had had the account for a while but only used it once for a one time payment few years ago
I missed the promos last year because I didn't have CSR or ATT More cards then. Now that I'm ready I don't see anything new. Maybe I should delete the account and re sign up
I'd have to see some more DPs on free six payments though
