Here's your red flag:
You said previously you were not credit cycling, but if you routinely ran up a balance and paid it off before your statement closed, then credit cycling is exactly what you were doing. Were you doing that regularly, and on more than one card? Highly suspicious, a big red flashing "RISK" that screams "Look at me!!!" and IMHO almost certainly what brought the smackdown.

In absence of knowing something for a fact we all make educated guesses and that's totally fine and what we should do. I find it funny though when someone asserts their guess forcefully as if that has been the law of the land since there was land.

Down C1t1, B@rcl@y, and C@P1 all this year now. C@P1 is refunding my annual fee which hit a couple months ago. Reason I got was when I called was usage not indicative of account type. I think an checking transfer I put in may have caused eyes on my account. I think this one was uncalled for... No more 2% cards for me at the moment. Bye bye GCM and GC.com for now.

So was I. I was shutdown by nutspend in 2012 for loading a few Vanilla reload cards and doing bill pay to my CC. Tried to get one of their co-branded cards recently at a local grocery store, was shut down again on activation so they got me banned for good. Scumbags!

...I will find out if the MSing ban is permanent. It's really not that important, since I can only MS the few weeks in a year that I'm visiting the US. If and when I move back to the US, then I will consider if I want to start up again, assuming the opportunity still exists.
I found I had little desire to continue once I made the bonus, though, so maybe I'm done with MSing.

Reopening followed by shutdown?
Do folks know if reopening accounts is possible? Blessed Citibank and Capital One closed all of my accounts. My sadness knows no bounds.

YMMV... i think there have been some successful reports where people were able to reopen their accounts. Was your shutdown result of heavy MS'ing?
