Were you doing that regularly, and on more than one card? Highly suspicious, a big red flashing "RISK" that screams "Look at me!!!" and IMHO almost certainly what brought the smackdown.

Huh? Most of us do this on most (if not all) cards each month we put significant spend on them, to keep the utilization ratio low (most cards report statement balance to credit bureaus) because it affects credit scores.

In absence of knowing something for a fact we all make educated guesses and that's totally fine and what we should do. I find it funny though when someone asserts their guess forcefully as if that has been the law of the land since there was land.

1.5 years 10K

3. Average monthly account balance checking and savings?
<1000

4. Volume of ms per month and how many months?
15K since inception

5. Cycle CL?
No

6. Did you BP using both options?
- BP by issuing bank (@m3x, chs3, c1t1 and brcl@y)

CFPay a couple times a month

Closed sp@rk + checking account.

Down C1t1, B@rcl@y, and C@P1 all this year now. C@P1 is refunding my annual fee which hit a couple months ago. Reason I got was when I called was usage not indicative of account type. I think an checking transfer I put in may have caused eyes on my account. I think this one was uncalled for... No more 2% cards for me at the moment. Bye bye GCM and GC.com for now.

That seems like the only red flag to me. Sorry to hear that.

I removed about 20 posts debating the merits of obscuring the bank's names (as is done in the wiki). I'll summarize by saying some people think it is a good way to avoid coming up in search engines, while others think it is stupid and annoying.

Now let's try to get back on track :cool:

So was I. I was shutdown by nutspend in 2012 for loading a few Vanilla reload cards and doing bill pay to my CC. Tried to get one of their co-branded cards recently at a local grocery store, was shut down again on activation so they got me banned for good. Scumbags!

I tried a little MSing when I was back in the US in October, about $10,000 worth to make a bonus, and depositing the MOs at my CU in person worked fine. Each time I went in, I knew at least one of the cashiers, and they were happy to see me. So far there's been no peep from the backroom guy -- maybe he no longer works there or maybe in-person deposits don't raise a flag.

I found I had little desire to continue once I made the bonus, though, so maybe I'm done with MSing.

Reopening followed by shutdown?

Do folks know if reopening accounts is possible? Blessed Citibank and Capital One closed all of my accounts. My sadness knows no bounds.

YMMV... i think there have been some successful reports where people were able to reopen their accounts. Was your shutdown result of heavy MS'ing?
