I didnt read every single post here so sorry if someone already mentioned using the Chase Freedom Unlimited for 1.5 points per $ and pairing with the Ink card to have those UR points to be transferred to United Miles 1:1. This might be a cheaper option than paying the $450 AF with the United Club Card, but of course one would not get the United Club Membership or the other benefits of that card.

Interesting. What do you do with all that MOs? Do you spread it out across multiple checking accounts?

The "offset method" appears to simply be a strategy to MS using a cash back card, and then use the profits to MS for airline miles. As such, it is not a unique or novel technique.
