Always test one gc before buying too many that you cannot liquidate.
As of 6/2017:
HB Vanilla mc & visa issued by Bancorp - liquidate at PO or some grocery stores, not WM. The Bancorp gcs are easier to liquidate.
Vanilla mc issued by MetaBank - might be able to liquidate at Kmart BP, Paypal, not WM or PO.

MGC at Sam's Club(2016-2017)
Sam's Plus account offers 2% cash back for purchases. I was wondering if gc purchases get 2% rewards too. Any experience? If it works I will upgrade my Economy account to the Plus.

I have bought $500 MC twice from there. Last time cashier couldnt process using CC and manager said they might be cash only. Never tried after that. Will try once Chase next qtr starts.

SAMs club has vanilla mc. The membership plus account does NOT give additional CB on the vanilla mc. I was only 1/3 on buying from them across 2 locations. Their cashiers were not trained to ring them up properly and some will wind up hitting the wrong keys and asking for your DL for manual input.

.. so yes they do.. now they accept all CCs
