The thread for 2018 is here.
***If you buy gift cards outside promotions, you will earn ZERO points.***

Giant MD and Stop & Shop's points now stack with Shell's Fuel Rewards. See more here.
If you link a Mastercard to Fuel Rewards, you will earn an additional $0.15/gal for every $100 spent on anything at Giant/S&S with that card through the end of the year.

Accepted tender: Cash, credit, and debit. Also available are mobile/contactless payment (Apple Pay, etc.) and mobile loyalty (card barcode via app).

Summary
Stop & Shop (S&S), Giant Food Stores (Giant PA), and Giant Food (Giant MD) offer points for purchases which can be redeemed for a discount on the price paid per gallon on fuel sales at Shell and S&S/Giant fuel stations. $100* spend = 100 pts = 10c/gal discount. The particular rules vary between the three brands, and within Giant PA, the rules vary by location. Refer to the bottom of this wiki post for more information or links to official info from each brand.

Feel free to update this Wiki or suggest improvements. The goal is to help all of us spend less on gas!

Additional Information

• A loyalty card is required to take advantage of gas rewards. They look like the above image and can be obtained either online (links at end of wiki) or in-person (at the customer service counter).

• The cards currently on promotion are listed in the current weekly circular and usually change every week. VISA and MC from Metabank or US Bank for $20-$500 (plus $5.95 fee) work. For GCs, if it meets the previous requirements, the packaging (blue, silver, birthday cake, etc.) doesn't matter! Check the issuing bank on the back.

• S&S and Giant (DC, DE, MD, and VA) allow you to redeem up to 1500 points ($1.50/gal) per fuel purchase, and points expire 30 days after the qualifying purchase. With Giant PA, there is no limit to the number of points redeemed at one time.

• Points earned in one program cannot be used in another program.

• Your ID may be required when buying gift cards. Your name and other info may also be recorded for purchases over a discretionary dollar value. Whether you're buying a $100 card or a $5k stack, your experience will vary.

• You can view your account online using the link at the bottom of the wiki.

• It's best to purchase gift cards at the customer service counter, but reports state that a single $500 gift card can be paid for at any register without an issue. Purchases over $1k will require manager authorisation with a physical key, which may slow down the queue. You can go to the Solution Center to save time and make things easier for everyone.

• Giant Eagle and Giant Food are different chains with different ownership, and this thread is not relevant to the former.

• If you have more points in your account than are redeemed for a fuel purchase, then the remaining points will stay in your account until their respective expiration date(s). For example, if you have 2500 points and debit the 1500 ($1.50/gal) maximum, you will have 1000 points left. Similar behaviour if gas is ever below $1.50/gal before discount.

• If you don't receive eligible points with your purchase due to system or human error, you can have them retroactively added by customer service (in-store or by phone). Have your receipt and a copy of the advert. It can take up to 24 hours for keyed points to appear in your account.

I believe programs within the state of NC do not have a maximum redemption. All other states have the $1.50/gal applied.

It's not safe to keep gasoline lying around your home.

I average about 3,000 miles between gas point promotions, so that would net me about $200-250 in "$1.50 a gallon savings" Not worth my hassle.... Great when it's around, though.
The answer is *It depends*.

I have something like 8 five gallon cans.....some bought at Target back when we could gc into redbird (rip) as a way to say thanks to Target.

We have 4 cars and a snowmobile in the family. Fill a car and put the rest of the 20 gallons in gas cans. Repeat as is convenient. I think I'll end up with 4 gas station trips at $1.50 a gallon off for this go around.

Another thing I've found. I drive my son to school and go right down the street to Wal Mart to change gc to mo. At 7:30 in the morning, nobody's there and they're more than happy to do this. If I go in at noon, with a line around the corral, they make up excused.....machine's broken....can't accept gc.....my dog ate the key. Did my last 2 gcs at Wal Mart this morning (2 Wal Marts on my route anyways).

I know nobody is nearly as excited about this...but 10x gas points on Nike and Buffalo Wild Wings. If you can get your max 20 gallons at $1.50 off, Nike might be profitable. For those of you with unlimited redemption, Nike could totally be worth it if you're interested in reselling.

On another note, living in a smaller apartment with no space for gas cans...I am slightly envious of you folks. If I had a garage or something, I'd totally get the other 5 gallons into a gas can each fill up (my car tank is 15 gallons). I think it's a safe bet that gas won't go down by $1.50/gallon in the near future, so you'd definitely save money.

I have a hard time convincing myself to let the gas fuel reward go, if I switch to a EV/Tesla 3. Model S users used to get unlimited supercharger. They're not free anymore, which becomes some electric credit crap. I see when 3s are in full blown production, super chargers are hard to come by. What u guy think about letting go Gas Rewards. unless u plan to keep 1 of each.

S&S In MA have $15 off next order with purchase of $250vgc. Starts 3/17. Coupon on receipt. Don't recall this deal before. Flyer says restrictions apply, but no details in flyer. Does anyone know......
1 - is it only 250 or will larger denominations also work?
2 - is there a one per account limit?

In MA also. Just went through five S&S receipts I've gotten in the last few days, but did not come across the offer.

it's in the giant pa flyer

coupon on receipt; expires 4/6/17. Some restrictions apply*

the wording at the bottom says (no *, but still):
"while supplies last. No rainchecks. One offer per transaction. Coupon cannot be used for the the purchase of gift cards."

so I think we'll just have to see if it can be done on any amount >=$250 and can be done more than one per account, with separate transactions.

Not a bad deal -- especially if you regularly buy groceries at S&S/Giant. Basically, if you consider the groceries cash, you make $9 for every Visa gift card you buy (minus the fee) and then get free credit card points. Alas, no gas.

I'll probably buy a few next week, as I have a cc minimum spend to meet. I'll first wait for confirmation that multiple transactions will actually generate the additional $15 coupons.

I think somebody has already said that you can't used their coupons to buy gift cards. I think that's consistent with past practice, and the registers probably won't allow it.

I think the question is if you buy a $500 VGC (which is the same cost as a $250 in terms of fees) do (2) $15 coupons print out? The coupons cannot be used to buy other gift cards, lottery tickets, milk (at least in PA lol) AKA standard exemptions. $30 off a $505.95 VGC is a great deal, even before you bring points/miles into it. It's Giant, so not much you can re-sell, but I can easily stock up on months worth of non-perishable food.

From the terms of the offer, I'd be extremely surprised if 2 $15 coupons print. I do think it likely that separate $250+ gift card purchases will print additional coupons, but we'll have to get confirmation of that.

What is "your next order"? If it's anything that's great. If restricted then who knows. This will be a daily $5k run.. lots of points

Most of these are "catalina" coupons restricted to use for 2 weeks. I suspect any regular grocery purchase would be fine (not gift cards, and maybe not some isolated things like dairy or prescriptions).

What points earning card are you using? I did the old AMEX Blue until the new restrictions made it much less lucrative. My supermarket MS went way down, but I did use the Hilton Surpass (6x) for things like this gas deal. But now that they've gone to a revenue-based system valued at half a cent (no real loopholes to exploit), that's not a very attractive option for me. I'd like at least a 3% cash rebate.
