As of 9/18/21: WM loads are no longer free. WM will charge each load (no matter what the size) $3.74 in addition to the money being deposited into your Go Bank account.
GoBank fees and limits:
Cash deposits are limited to $2,500 per day and $3,000 per 30 days, subject to a maximum account balance of $50,000.
The monthly fee will accumulate if the account is dormant. You must call the phone number on the back to close the account.
5/29/19 - There may be a difference in which card gets free loads at WM. Getting the card online through GoBank.com sends out a Visa version. This card may not allow free loads at WM. Reports are that getting the card directly at WM will result in free loads. If anyone can confirm this, please do so.

Shut down reports:

binnycode (closed, re-opened) - 7x $200 loads + 1x $700 load + 3x $500 over 2 days got me shut down. Called CSR and they re-opened my account, letting me know that "direct deposit would reduce my number of trips to walmart" lol!

That has been my finding as well.
I cannot load a GoBank card with a MCGC at the cashier or the MC. These are the $200 variety issued by Meta.
I am buying almost no MCGCs these days due to liquidation issues.

Finally got shutdown by GreenDot on the main three platforms: GoBank, Green Dot Unlimited and Walmart MoneyCard.
I was successful with staying under the radar for over 4 years by strictly following guidelines that I set (and adjusted) by monitoring shutdowns reported here on the forum. They must have recently changed their threshold or I was amazingly lucky for a very long time.
As others reported, it's Green Dot-wide so all cards/accounts closed at the same time with no ability to know which card's activity started the chain reaction.
I would offer more detail but without knowing what's pertinent, it would just be rambling.
Open to answer questions, however.
Be careful out there if you need your accounts!

Specifically, how much did you load your cards and with what method and how often? Did you do direct deposit of money from an employer or some other method.
How did you unload your card. Were you paying only credit cards or were you using the cards for organic spend as well. What percentage of spend was organic versus MSing?
While it may appear to be random, whatever you were doing was enough to attract rats so any DPs would be helpful in driving them off

just ran into a $3.74 loading fee this evening, but it was only at one of my WM, another I visited right before was still no fee. Standard register and MC both added $3.74 fee. Loaded 2 days ago at this WM for no fee. No bueno.

Just loaded my Go Bank and the cashier had no control over the $3.74 fee, which I had to pay.
This is completely new.
So, good news is that I was able to load with a SMVGC, at this site. The bad is that this account has just become more limited.

You still can cancel the loading. So all GoBank cards have the fee?

I could have cancelled but I was also dealing with last week's inability to use SMVGCs to load any of my cards at another previously reliable WM.
So my first job was to see if any loading was possible, fee or no fee.
I was able to use my SMVGC to load all 3 of my reloadables, BB, BB Visa and Go.
Only Go had the new fee which means to me that Go has changed it rules. However, there is no mention of it on the Go site, which still says that cash loads are fee free at WM.
Now someone needs to take some cash and see if loading cash itself is fee free or not.

Just called Go Bank help, which is really a Green Dot help center.
After explaining to the nice lady who sounded off-shore my experience this morning with making a cash equivalent deposit to my Go bank account, she told me that Green Dot reloadable cards have the $3.74 charge on them but Go cards should be free for cash and cash-like deposits (I used the term "debit card" deposit) at WM
My take away from this was that the WM cashier pushed the wrong button and the register thought that I was using a Green Dot card and not Go, and thusly charged me for the deposit.
I will await other people's DPs on this but I will not be making another deposit on Go for at least 1 or even 2 weeks, so hopefully others will chime in and provide DPs.
Bottom line.....MS education is never free

anyone have a moneycard they can test? It would seem ridiculous for something with "Walmart" in the branding to incur a fee, but not ridiculous for WM to just throw a fee over all greendot transactions.
I don't believe they have any control over something like that. The procedure is "70 action code", "1" to load, then dollar amount and tender type. The system itself appeared to throw the fee on right after I swiped my card, as I saw $3.74 on the screen before they entered my load amount
Nope
