As of 9/18/21: WM loads are no longer free. WM will charge each load (no matter what the size) $3.74 in addition to the money being deposited into your Go Bank account.
GoBank fees and limits:
Cash deposits are limited to $2,500 per day and $3,000 per 30 days, subject to a maximum account balance of $50,000.
The monthly fee will accumulate if the account is dormant. You must call the phone number on the back to close the account.
5/29/19 - There may be a difference in which card gets free loads at WM. Getting the card online through GoBank.com sends out a Visa version. This card may not allow free loads at WM. Reports are that getting the card directly at WM will result in free loads. If anyone can confirm this, please do so.

Data point. I tried to load at 3 Walmarts yesterday (Chicagoland suburbs), all transactions declined using a Metabank Gebit during the authorizing stage. This was at a regular register. I went to the money center and the Gebit worked to load there. There may have been a register update to lock out Gebit or debit loads at regular registers like other have stated. I tested $100, $200 and $500 loads. Previous to this occurrence, I had not problems loading up too $500 at a regular register (last load 11/06/19).
I will test some more locations later this week with a Gebit and a bank Debit to see if it was an anomaly/software issue or if this is now standard in my area.

I also tried to load the Gobank Card with a two different bank debits. They were also declined. It seems all debits are blocked from loading at regular registers in these locations.

In my area loads at registers have never been allowed (for GoBank or Serve). I've tried several times, sometimes citing an excuse (MC line too long, etc.) but was always referred to the MC in the end. It'd be nice to be able to load at registers to run higher volume!

Can GoBank cards be bought at walmart with a credit card? I tried at the register, and the transaction was declined. Not a big deal, as I just paid the $2.95 activation fee and $20 minimum in cash, but has anyone had a problem buying the $500 VGC at Walmart issued by GoBank with a credit card?

Another problem with not being able to load at the registers is one can not buy a new Gobank card with a debit from a regular register. One would have to go to the money center to buy a card. I know this because I tried to buy another card yesterday and the regular register declined both a Gebit and Bank Debit. I had to go to the money center to make the initial purchase.
I will check again next week to see if I can load from a regular register at my friendly Walmarts or if this is a permanent way of life now.

I had the same issue yesterday. But honestly, it wasn't a big deal to go to the MC to purchase it. And it doesn't seem like going to the MC to load is that big a deal in the future; considering the $3k/month load limit. I may only have to go to WM a few times in a month.
Also, I could see the $3k monthly limit as not a problem if you only have one card. But if you are running multiple cards this makes velocity a huge problem.
