As of 9/18/21: WM loads are no longer free. WM will charge each load (no matter what the size) $3.74 in addition to the money being deposited into your Go Bank account.

GoBank fees and limits:

Cash deposits are limited to $2,500 per day and $3,000 per 30 days, subject to a maximum account balance of $50,000.
  • Sign up online & through the GoBank app FREE
  • Sign up with a starter kit from participating retail stores Purchase a starter kit at a participating retail location ($2.95 or less) + start your account for as little as $20, up to $500
  • Monthly Membership FREE in any month that you make qualifying direct deposits totaling at least $500. Otherwise, $8.95 per month. For more details on the Monthly Membership fee
Keep in mind the maximum number of swipes for payment when loading prepaid reloadables including GoBank is THREE. Swiping the prepaid card is considered as FIRST swipe so it leaves you with THREE remaining swipes so plan accordingly.
Lots of $200 loads can get you shutdown. GoBank does not like paying load fees on low denomination loads. Two $500 loads is better than five $200 loads.

The monthly fee will accumulate if the account is dormant. You must call the phone number on the back to close the account.

5/29/19 - There may be a difference in which card gets free loads at WM. Getting the card online through GoBank.com sends out a Visa version. This card may not allow free loads at WM. Reports are that getting the card directly at WM will result in free loads. If anyone can confirm this, please do so.

I'm still going to Wally World, but without GB cards in my pocket. I'll pay the $1 for a $999 MO vs. the $3.74 stupidity per $500 load. I've got one finger to point GB on where to go, given my accounts are at $0.00 since 9/21. Go2 not in my future, they get the finger on my other hand.

What's the feeling about GB direct deposits for October?

I've long been doing direct deposits of $500 to keep the monthly fee at zero. They typically drop in around the 21st of the month. My monthly GB membership fee looks like it's usually billed somewhere between the 11th and the 13th of the month. This means that the membership fee for October hasn't arrived yet, but it should again be zero because I did have that $500 direct deposit in September.

Is a direct deposit necessary in October if I have no intention of activating the new GB card?

Not really. I would stop your direct deposit if you don't plan to use the card after this month. You do the direct deposit in October to satisfy the fee for the following month.

It seems the account will close on 11/10/21 unless you renew. I have a zero balance right now and if the monthly fee comes up before 11/10 then i might have to pay that to GB before I can close it. are you planning to close or let it close past 11/10. not sure if there is a way to close it on your own that way there wont be any fee.
Any luck with no fee at WM so i can do some last minute loading?

or them boys(GB) are not budging with the fee? and they want their fair share

I tried this past week to deposit $995 into Go and was charged the $3.74.

Unfortunately, WM will not let me deposit $990 at one time into Go. The denial slip said that the amount exceeded the one time deposit maximum. While my cashier was willing to input a lower amount , I was not. I felt that paying $3.95 for a $1000 GC and $3.74 for a deposit fee was no different than paying $3.95 for 2 $500 GCs with no deposit fee. But if the deposit limit is $500 (which it probably is ) than I might as well use my BB Visa and deep six Go.

Maybe someone can convince me that my thinking is wrong.

I did allow one more DD to fall in October. All monies will be withdrawn and the account closed officially next month.

I think if you have a zero balance on your GoBank card I don't think they will charge you a monthly fee.

The deposit limit per transaction for GoBank has been $500 for awhile now like im thinking over 1-2 years ago. Gobank used to not have this $500 deposit limit per transaction.

Interesting since I called the Go "help line" and was told that Go has no limit on the amount of cash one can deposit at one time, up to the limits stated in the T&Cs

This means to me that the limits are being placed by WM, not Go, if I can believe the "help line".

I was unable to find anywhere on-line a defined maximum load limit for cash deposits. In fact, the WM web site still says that cash deposits at WM are free
However, it also says that cash deposit limits may apply.

Clarity does not appear to be a feature of either Go or WM

Who cares at this point. You got less than 2 weeks with this card. If you need to unload your cards just pay the fee.

I buried my 2 card live yesterday. Not waiting till they automatically close and fee might kick in. called them and have them close the account. This is over. Have had this card for long time.

Based on a recent email it looks like Gobank is extending the need to activate the go2bank card until Nov 10th. I tried calling the GoBank customer service to see if that now means that we can still use the GoBank card untiil Nov 10th and he said yes. I don't know what to believe or just assume I need to zero out account by Oct 31st. I would love to see the ability to use my my Gobank card until Nov 10th because I would like to use this card a little more time before I dump this card. Does anyone else have the same understanding?

Were you forced to switch to Go2?

I was not. As far as I know, as long as my employer keeps plopping $500 a month into the account, it will stay open. I did deposit $500 on 10/25 so as far as I know, my Go account should remain open until at least 11/25. It is still charging $3.74 at WM for a maximum $500 deposit, but at the cashier, I can still use a SMVGC to fund it.

Given the rapidly changing state of MSing liquidation scenarios, or the lack thereof, I am keeping this option open since I know that I can still use it if desperate. It doesn't cost anything to keep it open.

I received the mail, new card etc, but haven't activated it. I scheduled a payment last week for the 29th, but it hasn't been processed. Time to switch I guess.

Everyone is being forced to switch to Go2 card and I even have the new Go2 card but haven't activated it yet. Its just right before the end of the month they sent and email update that said that that they are extending the activation period of the Go2Bank card until 11/10. So I called to confirm if this is the case and they said it was. I am still debating on whether to activate the new card since i don't really wanna to have a card where i have to fund with real DD.

If they are forcing everyone to switch to the Go2 bank, then I am in big trouble

They sent me a new Go bank chipped MC card. I have not had any indication that this card was going to become obsolete on 11/11.

Given Go's past performances, I am not saying that on 11/11 my account will be summarily closed, but actually, I have no alternative given that Go has sent me nothing to date.as far as change is concerned
