Help liquidating $600 Staples GC

So long story short I tried one too many dips and now I'm stuck with a $600 Staples GC on MPX. Will cost me at least $80 to sell to a GC reseller, so I'm wondering my other options. 1) Try and buy VGCs with MPX at Staples location. 2) Buy a product for $600 and try to return it?. 3) Buy 600 $1 pens and remember not to get greedy.

It will take you a while since you can only do four at a time, but you could always buy the penny after rebate paper reams. You'd also have to pay tax of course, but you'd only be losing ~5% vs 13%. If you have no use for the paper, just donate it to a school & you can probably get a tax write off.

Or just float the $600 and wait to buy something you actually need. They've got a bunch of random things on the website (not just office stuff). I bought some free weights there a couple months ago with some expiring rewards & they price matched to Amazon.

Basically, I'm trying to avoid this. While I can afford to float $600, it could be much more wisely spent! Good to know they price match.

You could find a green cashier and try to buy other gift cards.

Are they staples-only gift cards or could they be staples visa? I know for the staples $20 back on GCs, I get staples visa gcs and use them all over, just like any VGC.

No such thing as Staples VGCs. Staples VGCs are referenced as the $200 MB VGCs. The $20 Staples rebate VGCs are a different thing.

Treat yourself to something nice at Staples. You can buy a lot of electronics at Staples.

I've been buying and reselling TI 84 plus CE calculators. Price match to whoever has em cheaper (currently Walmart at $88, I think). Staples has also had a $15 rebate on em as well, so you'll pay about $75 after tax and rebate. They sell for $100+ on eBay all day. So you'll not only get rid of your gc's, you might make a few bucks.

If they go for $88 at Walmart why would someone buy them for $100 from eBay?

None transparent aspects. See the bing 30% ebay promotion back in '08. Likely causes in this case are a) no sales tax b) ebay bucks

This sounds like a bit of work, I'd rather just liquidate the card for a small loss and not invest as much time. If I can't find a way to do that this is a viable option. Thanks for your suggestion.

Mix almost free paper purchases with 3rd Party GC and keep it under 300.
