Amex Offer: Staples $20 off $100 purchase

$20 credit for $100 purchase, in-store or online (US), not valid for e-gift cards.

Loaded onto my AmEx cards yesterday using either website or Twitter.

Seems none of usual bloggers noticed this yet.

Obvious use is $200 card, split tender across 2 AmEx. Of course you are only getting 1x points/miles but the cash return is good.

Huh. This and recent OD offer sure died quick. I don't recall this being such a problem last go-around.

We have the gluttons who sync these offers to 38 Amex cards before everyone else can save it to 1 to thank for that. Same people who grab 8 slices of pizza when the office buys everyone lunch before most of their coworkers even get 1 slice. And it doesn't help that the blogosphere is encouraging everyone to auto-sync every new offer that comes up, regardless of whether it'll actually be used.

The reason that nobody reported about this offer - capacity was reached in 1-2 hours (the offer went live around midnight).

Or, it could be that that the limit on max participants is a lot lower. Since we don't know what the limit is though.....

I don't think that's true. I added it to my cards in the morning a few hours after I woke up.

It depends when was your morning. I saw this offer at 5:15AM EST, and it was already over. First post on slickdeals about "deal is over" was ~3:30 AM.

If they have 38 cards, they are entitled to 38 offers. Don't hate the player...

For those of us who got it, any issues buying VGCs either in-store or online?

No problem at all. Went in-store and bought 2x$200 VGC (new purplish ones) just fine, with split tender across 4 CC. I'm an amateur with only THREE AmEx cards, but the $60 back plus a few Chase points made it worthwhile to me.

Thanks for the heads up! Had it on two out of four Amex cards and see that it is loadable via Twitter as well. ^
