Amazing MS opportunity at my local grocery store! $10 back for every $100 spent on GC
My local grocery store has this amazing deal going on right now for the holiday season. For every $100 spent on certain gift cards, you get $10 back! You would think that you'd only get one $10 coupon for one $500 gift card. Nope! They're going by purchase amount! So a $500 gift cards earns $50 in coupons.
They have variable load MasterCard gift cards with a $5.95 activation. I loaded 8 cards at $500 a piece for a grand total of $4,000. In return I received $400 in $10 coupons to spend on my next purchase!
I went to Walmart, liquidated the gift cards via BlueBird and then went back to the grocery store to do some shopping! I put $345 worth of merchandise on the conveyor belt, scanned the coupons and only paid $95 Saved $250!
Went back today and bought another $2,500 worth of gift cards to receive yet another $250 to spend at the grocery store! Man, this is like taking candy from a baby!
I bought more merchandise today. Total came to $208 and I only spent $50 of my own money.
What's the catch? I have to have the cashier turn off her light because the $10 coupons only work once per transaction. So once I scan a couple items and the total comes to $10.03, $10.75, $14, etc.. then I scan the coupon, pay the remaining balance and continue on.

Yeah, this is definitely a targeted market and not nationwide.
I'm just excited, because this is my first every big MS opportunity where I've scored big!
I added up all the items I purchased the last two days on my receipts, and the grand total was $553. I only paid $145 out of pocket

RIP cub foods ;-(
btw, between last wed and sun, it was 20 per 100. It is a system glitch.
all of the coupons have the same code, it is very easy for them to stop accept that single coupon code.

Technically the $20 promo ends today. One could argue that you should get both the $10 and $20 since the promos over lap. YMMV on that one.
They also will stack the coupons instead of one per purchase. Just ask them to do it as a store coupon.

As far as stacking the coupons go, I will ask. However, the lady made it seem like it couldn't be done since it says something like "one per transacation."

The coupons get processed as store coupons (not catalinas) per the manager, and since it is let you use them in one transaction, or you camp at the register to get as close to $20 or $10 as possible, she said no problem. That was absolutely YMMV though. So I would check with them before they ring the whole order.
i can't decide if this deal was better than the Best Buy/Shopkick/BB points deal.

Thanks for the heads up. Ran into one employee at the service desk who restricted the deal to one coupon. Otherwise, a great deal. Most cashiers were not at all concerned about the number of coupons printing. Most actually explained the "per $100" deal. It would be great if this new promotion lasted to the 10th, as advertised.

Fantastic! Thanks for the tip! There are tons of Cub Foods in my area. I called them today and the manager said the promotion just started today! She also confirmed that I could buy up to $2,500 per day in gift cards! My plan is to purchase the full amount using my Bank of America Cash Rewards card which yields 2% Cash-Back on grocery spend. Kudos to OP!
