MS mistakes.
While learning MS techniques I seem to make as many mistakes as possible.
Today I was in an OSS that had coveted GCs. $200 Visa GCs that I've never actually seen on the rack in an OSS. I went wild (for me) and bought two and some Petco and Groupon GCs for good measure. I thought to myself, prematurely, Wow, that'll be like 2500 FF miles! Visions of the Bahamas occupied me at the cash register. A few hours later I realized I had used the wrong CC because it was the same color (blue) as the right CC. Oops! FF miles earned will be 1x spend instead of 5x spend :) What mistakes did you make as a noob MSer? Want to know so I can laugh and avoid them. |
Since the Wikis here are pretty weak and outdated and no good example of a central wiki (which I tried to build and someone deleted it) read about 1500+ pages and you have figured it out by then

No mistakes.
Because in this game making mistakes costs money.

My biggest mistake was asking a question instead of searching. My butt still hurts from the flaming that I got lol

Here's a bit of advice. Don't spend more than your RIA with one FI in one month. Fraud/risk departments will not be happy. |

Because in this game making mistakes costs money. There are blogs and other forums for the spoon feeding. go look at XDA forum... now that is a damm good quality forum that is detailed and organized and not where people don't say spoon Feeding like it is an insult... |
In the days of buying VR at CVS I was using a car key instead of a coin to scrape off the stuff that obscures the PIN and scraped off enough of the PIN that I couldn't read it! Eventually I was able to get them to give me the code but I had to fax in my DL and other info first which was a pain.
I had a VGC slip out of my pocket and into the couch I was sitting on but luckily one small corner was peeking out. I would probably haven't ever known where I lost it! |

Accidentally used my Wells Fargo debit card instead of credit card for my first Wells Fargo vr cvs purchase.

Recently I accidentally used my emerald card to load my emerald card. That's not a money maker.

MS mistakes.
I forgot to withdraw the balance in my AP account once and when I made my payment that was what AMZN used to send my payee, no chance to use a credit card and get points.

MS mistakes.
Not keeping good enough records in the beginning (now I have a pimped out excel workbook)
Sitting on to many GC's at any given time, thankfully I have that up right before the music stopped on OV at WM. |
dont let your statement close with high utilization

I didn't know this at first, and wondered why everyone said that MS doesn't affect credit score. Then I found out it wasn't the MS, it was the high utilization rate at statement cut... (cheap) lesson learned. |

How did you get the money back off the VR? I have to do this too with one of my cards.
It took about 4 days to resolve which I thought was pretty quick. Don't wait to call! |
