If the premise is that a thread is counter-productive (people reacting incorrectly, for example), then the worst contribution to the sub-forum would be to post several times in said thread.

P.S. I love all the threads.

Serve does not put a new policy into effect in one day. Do you know how policy changes work for Amex? (Rhetorical)

No, you wouldn't have because the #1 rule is don't call. That's about tied with READ MORE before posting/participating.

Did you call serve? I had the same charge on my card. I called serve and the rep said the $3.95 will be back to my account within 24 hours. They are fixing the issue.

Kate didn't mention fees, only the receipt showing balance and online.

Serve is quick to remedy.

They did say there is an issue on Walmart's end after talking to an "Account Specialist" and that they're aware of the issue.

I'd say this might be an indication Amex is eating a 3.95 charge for every reload done at Wally World, and for some reason the systems had an error in passing that onto the consumer. Just a guess.

Although I reported no issues on Kate purchases from yesterday, my two swipes this evening (non-Kate) did get credited less the $3.95.

Will this fix itself or do we have to call in?

New 3.95 fee

Looks like amex is getting ready to charge us $3.95. Amex probably ran a test and accidentally made it live. Great while it lasts.

I'm guessing it's a pretty bad guess.

AmEx published reports indicate that they are moving ~$1.5billion through Serve/BB per quarter. So that's $6B a year. Assume half of that is done with debit cards. That's $3B. Assume that's done with $500 per swipe. That's 6million swipes. At $3.95 per swipe that's $23.7MM loss.

Ain't happening.

Make sure you load all the cards you can BEFORE you call. Holy crap. I got grilled. She goes "why would you load after you knew there was a glitch and got the credits?"

What a freaking battle for these reimbursements...

EDIT:

Looks like they're now saying to go to Walmart, ask for a refund since the issue is on Walmart's end and not theirs.

So the CSR expected you to wait until you were personally notified that the glitch was fixed before loading again? Could be a while

I posed this question to the BB thread about 2 hours ago and 1 person responded saying they haven't seen any issues with BB. Its only 1 data point but hopefully more folks will chime in tomorrow on BB.
