Tried buying visa GCs, my Simon mall reps are saying I need a business credit card to buy the $1000 business GC. I have personal cards - so I can only buy $500 GC. Is that true for other Simon malls as well? Or should I try elsewhere? Is there any way to buy the $1000 GC with personal cards?

I haven't even been able to buy $1000 cards with a business credit card. The reps at my Simon mall are not aware of the program for businesses or the fact that such cards are available online to approved businesses. They insist that the maximum value for any GC, regardless of whether it is purchased by a business or an individual, is $500. They have been very friendly to me, so I'm not about to argue with them.

I take it you didnt read thru this thread as many of the pages before this one has posts saying the AGC was declined if even taken

I can see walking up handing over 20 $500 AGCs and asking for VGCs instead. You do realize that its the employee that MUST swipe the card you give them on their computer and we dont swipe anything.

As for Torrance when using a CC you better call up and let them know you'll be making a large transaction, Torrance is 1 swipe per CC = if its Declined they wont swipe it again even if your CC clears everything up, either hand over a different CC or come back the next day and try again

I went to the Galleria today here in Houston and dipped my toe in the Simon GC pool. Totally painless, except they asked to fill out the form for $1000+ purchase. I bought 1 $500 VGC and left. I might go back and buy $2-3k and fill out the form and then just cool it. The mall was pretty dead on a Friday afternoon, with the exception of one of the cart/sample pushers that I think I offended when I handed back her free sample when I refused to answer her question.

If they are metabank still, they will be no problem other than the Kate limits. (If I remember, $1999 every 10 min.)

So far all charges for the SMGC's were coded as "Specialty Retail" for me. I'd love to see more recent data points for payments using Citi cards.

Bleh, disregard this post. I was referring to sunrise transaction on my arrival and not Simon giftcards.

Also subsequently, no points were added. Bleh. I'll chalk this up to a live and learn process.
$40 fee on a $100 purchase that seems awfully steep. Also why would you buy a $100 gift card if the purpose was to MS? I mean, you are effectively paying 4% to get 2.x% back.
