Is it Stealing?
Trying to max out category bonus but cant find gf/vanilla RL at particular category store. Drugstore however, is overflowing with them. These have $0 value on them before their loaded so if I happen to take one from drugstore without loading it there...;)

Everyone has their own moral boundries. Some may do it. Myself ( and likely the store ) would call it stealing. This was talked about recently in a thread.
That being said one day I tried to buy a VR in 711 and it was cash only. I went to put it back and he told me I could keep it if I wanted. Point is : it wouldn't hurt to ask. Doubtful they would let you but ya never know! |
If you have to ask...
|
Is it stealing?
Yes. If you take an ice scraper, you have to pay for it, steal it or have it given to you. Ask, sure, but unless it's given to you it's stealing.
|
I have ask, and they have given them to me..
All they can say is no... They are out in there on consignment, no sale no pay... Even the real owner want's them activated.... |
Agree with the other folks here. Those things cost CVS (or whoever) money, albeit a small amount. If you take them without asking, it's against the law.
|
Had a feeling this might have been discussed already. I did ask 3 different stores if I could simply take it and load it elsewhere and all 3 give me a "no" with a vague reason as to why they cant. "keyed only to our registers" or "has to be loaded before u can use it"
Trying to get other FTer experiences or convincing statements to drugstore so they'll let me have it. |
Be kind, ask, build a relationship with the regular cashier. No need to convince anyone of anything. Good luck!
|
I can't believe this question keeps coming up. I saw it on MP a while ago. If you take something without permission, it's theft. There is no grey area.
|
Aside from the obvious, OP may want to do some investigation first.
I dont know about VRs, but I know the VGC available at CVS is different from that available at 7-11. The VGC sold at CVS is activated by scanning the bar code. The VGC sold at 7-11 is activated by swiping the card which has a meg strip on the package. Soooo, do your homework first before you ask your store if they could give the unactivated card to you, because you may get something that could not be sold by another retailer! |
Here are some other things that have $0 in value.... my old cat with bad teeth, a soft T shirt from high school with a big hole in it and finally something with negative value, a pair of old sneakers that doesn't smell very well but sure fits great.
If anyone takes these without my permission, I am calling the police. |
There is a $3.95 cost to them. Drugstore presumably makes a cut, like any other product. Would you five-finger a $3.95 item from the shelf?

In my view, the cards don't have $0 value, they have $3.95 value, of which that particular store is missing out on selling when you take it elsewhere. |
Why is this question always up for discussion? The answer is YES it is stealing. Case closed!!! There is no gray area for discussion on this. If the VR leaves the premises without being purchased it is called stealing!!! If OP can't see this in his moral compass he needs help.
