Rite Aid

It appears that corporate Rite Aid sent a memo to all the stores which I was shown where they are no longer allowed to sell MO's using debit cards. This is a sad day for me.

I feel your pain. The loss of a liquidation source sucks. I recently had a duplicate Serve/BB account under my name and the BB got closed a couple weeks ago. I still miss it :(

I last got a MO Thursday. I'll try again in the next few days. If this is true, that's about 10K of MO a month for me gone. Ugh.

Just left my local RA (went 2x today) successfully got 3k of MO. Maybe this is a YMMV by store or regional?

TheGreatMongo Mar 22, 2014 7:44 pm

I was turn down today but for a different reason. the cashier wanted to look at my card and says the debit card has to have my name imprint on there. I nod and walk away peacefully.

Again, maybe it is for the district or region? I am not sure. All I can say is he showed me something in print, and this store used to be tremendous for liquidation. The manager was about to allow the purchase when a store clerk stopped him to show him the corp. notice.

This has been YMMV for a while. I have a bunch of RA near me and none of them would put out except one. Then one day the cashier didn't know how to do a MO so she asked for the manager to help her. He said, "No Debit, who were the cashiers that let you do that?"

I just said I didn't remember and walked out peacefully. Another door closed. It was a great spot too because it was right next to my bank

Why not just switch to Walmart for MOs?

raccah Mar 25, 2014 2:56 pm

Because walmart is equally strict now. Unless the name is imprinted, or worse, no MO, though YMMV even at WM

I guess I am one of the lucky ones who has a WM who doesn't care.

Same. Not having a lenient WM would SERIOUSLY slow down MS.

zeppoloveskafka Mar 25, 2014 6:27 pm

I went to RA today and no problems. My WM has given me plenty of problems. Getting MOs is the most unpleasant part of what I do... I expect rejection every time I go to a supermarket.

Johnnycomeslater Mar 25, 2014 6:28 pm

RA in my area doesn't take debit card, just cash.

grayland Mar 25, 2014 7:44 pm

The RAs in my area have always rejected debit cards for MOs.
Must be a regional thing.

I dunno if i would go that far. I think it depends on the store and individual cashier. I have plenty of luck at the wallys near me
